...end of June, approximately 3500 copies of the new GTO have found a home(less than the Aztec, less than the Chevy SSR)......255 days worth of GTO inventory in the pipeline......lets see here, 5 work days per week for 51 weeks....THATS NOT GOOD !!!...many dealers are offering to put on aftermarket hood scoops to help boost lagging sales....Pontiac just flat out missed it on the new GTO......could have been a contender, what an embarrasment for GM....

I have several friends that say they would love to buy a new GTO if it just looked like one. Barry

Adding hood scoops to make it look real wouldn't cut it unless they made them functional too. I had one parked next to me at a car show and the driver was a salesman really pushing sales and promotion hard. Nobody cared, and he stormed out early. Oddly enough, he won 1st in his class (after he left). I didn't even know what it was til he came over and told me. (I didn't care either.)

Well, I'm not suprised with those low sales numbers - I was REALLY looking forward seeing the new GTO when I heard that they will 'revive' it but when I first saw it on Motorweek my first thought was: " What the f$$k" ?? Nothing 'special' about this one - sure it got power but it looks like s$$t !! I'm with Mike on this one - THAT's what they should have done - a more retro based styling ! HOW do YOU think the '05 Mustang will do ???

I think the 05 Mustang will do great.Tons of features. great pricing. Great styling. I think Ford has a grand slam on this one. Pontiac seems to either junk up a car with useless plastic sporty cladding or they leave it so plain, the car doesn't look sporty at all. the GTO looks no different than a new Grand Prix to me...and they want too much $$ for it. I too am sick of the manufacturers ressurecting cool name badges for plain cars not deserving of them...

Couldn't agree more.... The new Mustang has the pizzazz and the flare....the Pontiac GTO has none of those.... I hear the cavalier is changing for next year....GM is really going out on a limb now!

I agree the new "stang" will do great. Ford already has the experience of a "revival" with the T-bird. The knoledge of what is too far and what is t etc. Although the T-bird bassically turned out to be a chick car. (however Halley Barry looks A++ in hers) If chrysler did another car I may look at it. They have done quite well with the PT Cruser. I wonder if Shelby will hot rod the new "stang" Firegabe

...speaking of GTOs, Mustangs, n PT Cruisers...I had a '66 Goat, a '94 Stang GT conv (wife had '95 conv), and she still has her '01 RED PT Cruiser...to compliment her '99 RED Prowler...which I think she'll get to see in less than 1 month now--for the 1st time--kewl! ------------------ Tytanium-K, Man of Metal -- '99 RED, Mostly Stock!

Too bad on the GTO, but it just looks like a GrandAm. We saw one at a car show and the guy had put a front and back end on it to look like a modern version of a 70 LS6 Chevelle. The guy did a good job and it was painted red. I can't remember the show. Has anyone else seen it? If Pontiac had done a similar version with 64, 65 or 68 GTO styling they would have all been sold by now!

I grew up (sorta) and I was a pontiac nut, I had several GTO's 2-67's 1-69 and 1-70 I also had several pontiacs. They were great cars until GM decided to use Corporate engines in all their cars, (saves Money)Ford and Chrysler corps. have been doing this for a long time. Here is a pic of the last Pontiac I owned. Barry
