I've received a number of emails that I need to respond to. I apologize to all for the delay, but my lovely Internet Provider who advertises BLAZING internet access speed, went down in those blazing flames AGAIN!! I've been down for a couple of days.......sorry. I was actually starting to have withdrawal symptoms!!

I'll get to them ASAP!

Big problems with BAGLE.AH worm. Came out in the past 2 days. Dont open anything you don't recognize anyone. Cute little worm automatically shuts off your e-mail virus which will let hackers in to suck up info. Not sure if this was your server's problem CJ, but I took the chance to warn here.

Thanks for the info, Butchee, but no. This has been an ongoing problem with this provider. Their issues with cable, power and signals. Long story, but I'm about ready to go postal on them...........

I'm not sure if it's BAGLE or BEAGLE, but I got 4 in a row "allegedly" from Jan B. and have gotten it 2 more times since then (from same email address). Fortunately, between Norton, my ISP, and the way I read my emails, I caught them all before any harm was done. I only mention Jan in this as it appeared that it came from someone harvesting email addy's from here. I'm sure he wasn't the one sending me the virus. Dell came out with a website to help you protect your computer from spywear and viruses.
This is a news article explaining some problems you may experience. http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/040720/205128_1.html
And this is the link to their help site. http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/security?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

Here's a link for free removal and identification in case you get caught.I made the big mistake of opening an unknown sender and got wacked--JUST ONE!!! Panda quickly got rid of 402 infected files and my regular control got rid of the remaining 16! http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/

I've gotten several lately that 'appear' to be from people on here... to me, the 'giveaway' is always the file size, as well as the subject line.... if it's in the 27-41k size range, and/or the subject line seems "Re: (anything) or a generic subject, then trash it goes... I have gotten a few where I just simply turned around and emailed the 'alleged' sender and in all cases so far, they have said they did not send it.

Just take precautions.
Oh yes, I also pay the 'nominal' Norton fee. It works.

Ty.........you ask too many questions????? lol!

Had techs out again today and they tell me it's a "line" problem (which I have been saying for two years now). Problem is, they say they can't detect a problem if the internet is "up" when they are checking it. Which means they have to be there when it's "down". Which complicates things even more..........when it's "down" we have to call their 800 tech assist line to talk to a tech who says, "we'll have to schedule an appt. for a tech to come out and the soonest I have is two days from now". So, I told the line tech today, that is going to be just a slight problem! He gave me another number to call which (supposedly) will connect me to someone who will send a line tech out immediately to check the problem! These people are unbelievable!!

CJ, that sounds like the problem I had. Everytime it rained, we lost the cable. They couldn't check it in the rain because water could get in the system and ruin it.

They would send out a tech who checked out the house and declare, "It is out on the pole....I will have to call a diff. repair guy to check that out." Two days later, it quit raining, there was no problem, they could check on the pole and all seemed fine. They finally fixed it by replacing the cable the entire length of the street. About three days later I see a guy up on the pole in front of the house so I ask him what he is doing and he said, "routine maintenance on the lines". He was about 6 months too late. He then said he could see where squirrels had been chewing on the cable. It was only 2 or three days old. Unreal. But it works now.
Don't even start me on the Hot Tub crew.

I had a similar problem a few years back. I went out one night and cut the line. Then I called in to report my line was down. They came out and replaced the line and I have had no problem since. It was the only way I could think of to get them there when the cable wasn't working.

Well, went down again today and I called the line tech's supervisor. He told me that they had actually found line damage in our neighbor's yard and that they would be out tomorrow to dig it up and fix it. Now why didn't the guy tell me that yesterday???? At least it's not my yard!! lol!

We'll see what happens tomorrow! If that doesn't work, Dave, I may take the same path you did!

CJ: It sounds like your line might be buried. Mine was easier, it was overhead.

They are buried Dave, but they run up to the box which is above ground. Easy enough to open and snip, snip!!
