I too had this happen about 4 weeks ago. What I like to do is give them the wrong info and let them try to use it!!! After a few minutes I'm sure they abandon the attempt and move on but it is just a little fun with them. The way I caught the "phishing" trip was that there was a word misspelled in one of the title areas and because I already new of the scam. Be diligent! Wally |

We receive those kinda emails at least once a month - in the beginning we had some "fun" with it and filled out the information form like name, adress etc. with our idea of what we think they can do with it and then some...........no need to mention 'what', but you get the idea ! Then we just started forwarding those to spoof@ebay.com which follows up on those kinda scams - also they started the same scam with the Paypal name - so be careful - just forward the email to spoof@paypal.com ! ------------------ |

I have had hundreds of them, literally. I get two or three some days. Forward them to Spam@ebay.com. They look VERY real. |

quote: I had a similar phone call where they tried getting info outta me. Soooo.... I gave it to them I had been getting lots of sales calls lately and got tired of them calling so figured I would just have some fun with this one. He told me about his product and said he needed my credit card number. (Now, he never asked if I wanted to buy it, just asked for my card number.) I gave them a fake credit card number. I bet the guy really thought he was swift! He tried to use the card number and got caught. He called me up early the next morning bitching me out and saying that he was going to have me arrested for giving out someone elses card number, etc... I told him to go ahead and call the cops. He said he had me on tape giving him permission to charge the card. I said there was no way unless he altered the tape. He insisted... BOY was he p!$$ed at me!!! I then called my credit card company and told them what I had done, and asked if I could get in trouble for it. We both had a good laff. She told me no harm. They wanted to play a game, and called a good opponent... |

I had a similar experience years ago.......long before Al Gore invented the internet. I was very young...about 22 and was an at-home-mom with my first son. This encyclopedia company called my house EVERY day trying to set up an appointment to get me to buy their books. There was no way that Bob and I could afford anything like that then and I kept telling them NO and don't call me anymore. Sure enough, next day a different sales person would call. This went on for weeks. I finally got teed off one day and said "fine, they could come out to talk to me. I gave them a fake address. Several hours later I got a nasty phone call saying that they had been driving around for hours looking for this address, stopped at the Post Office, who told them there was no such address. He was livid. I laughed and told them I gave them a fake address because they would not stop harassing me over the phone. He said that was rude......I said two can play the game........don't ever call me again........they didn't. |

I screwed myself responding to the a 'spoof' from my internet provider 'knology' threatening to delete my email account if I didn't reply--after the 2nd or 3rd FINAL NOTICE I figured I better reply--WRONG ANSWER. Got me 408 viruses that I needed help ridding my PC of...not again! Now these type msgs to to the junk heap just like the I'll send you a cashier's check come-ons for items I've sold--and you've sold, I'm sure. Sigh. What a world. Ty-K |

If I don't recognize the name.......I don't open it. Especially the ones that have no subject. |

It must work or they wouldn't keep sending them out. With all the icons on the thing, it looks pretty darn real. |

I guess that's true, but it's a shame that people prey on those who might be gullible. |
