Thinking down the road in a few years...Will a late model auto (2003) fail CA smog test if the motor has been stroked and bored to say 40% more displacement? In other words... is the smog test equipment expecting particulates for a 4.6L when in reality the displacement is now 6.5L? It should pass the visual... it looks like a 4.6L and has all the 2003 stock smog stuff but is pumps out more exhaust gases. Thanks ! - Kcat

Yea... why not just tell them that you have a 6.5L when you have it tested?

idive, Your question made me delete my previous reply (too complicated anyway)because it gets right to the point...In CA your car will be held to the smog limits for the engine which originally came with the car, even if you swap the engine. Least that's the way I understand the law.
