A friend of mine is crew chief for Bunny Burkett. Her car runs in A Fuel Funny Car. Went to Englishtown tonight to get up close and personal with Bunny and the boys. It was pretty cool. Rounding out the night were monster trucks- Grave Digger, Maximum Destruction, Bigfoot, Goldberg and others along with Jet cars, fuel dragsters, Jessie James exhibit, Drag bikes and bunch of other stuff. It was a well organized event. This was a match race for Bunny. She only had to make 2 passes for the night. First pass after a full track burnout was a little over 6 flat with speeds in the high 260's. Not her fastest, but good enough to beat the other guy. Started to rain just before the second round so I left early. Bunny has been racing for 37 years. After warming up her car in the pits, she had a big smile on her face. I remarked that she still gets a kick out of it after all these years. She said it was better then sex. She took the time to pose and sign things for the many fans. Got a chance to see Ida to line up my tune up before we meet at Englishtown next month. Here are some shots.

Chuck--don't know when she picked up the name, but the dressing like that is all hype. The girls are the girlfriends of the guys in the crew. All volunteer crew and help with a 4 car show in her class bringing only about $1600 for her for the night.... 2 passes in a grudge match type event. They almost equal that $ in sales of used signed parts like pistons, rods, spark plugs, etc and tee shirts. They run 17 events during the year. Must really be a labor of love. http://www.bunnyburkett.com/ BTW--I got the speeds wrong.Looks like she was ONLY running in the 230mph range.  Take the time to read the "Bunny Tales" for inspiration. Hey Butchcee I was there last night also! The snap-on night of thrills was a great event.I didn't get home till about midnight.That team was defintely one of the best there! Vinnie from Orange County Choppers was there.Were I was,on the 3rd floor of the tower,Vinnie had came up and we had dinner and talked.Signed a bunch of stuff for me.I later met with Dennis Anderson(grave digger) and Tom Meents(Max. Destruction).I also sat on one of the prostock bikes! GTS--I wussed out at the first hint of rain. I had a long drive home. Dont think the funnies had a second run? Was looking for Vinnie, but never found him. No wonder--hiding out in the tower.  Sounds like you had a good time too. |
