I saw a black SSR at the dealer here.

I had to go in and check it out. It IS big..and COOL AS HELL! (Well that would actually be hot, but you get the idea.) The seats felt nice and the interior was sharp. I imagined flames all up and down that puppy, as it was a large expanse of black paint.... The decklid I would imagine would make a great cheesesteak grill in the summer. It must get real hot!

I thought if there was ONE car (errr..truck) out there that would trade my Prowler in for...this came close! (Notice I said close...)

One major turn off was MPG....16/19...ouch. At least Prowlers get killer mileage. Almost as much MPG as a Toyota Prius since the latest news came out on that car..

Anyone else like the SSR? I know a member or 2 bought one...how do you like it?

I like too, I heard if you can wait until 2005 or 2006 model year the SSR will get even better! The C6/Vette looks real cool, big change over the C5. That will be my next ride!

Does it look cool-Yes!
Price tag is way too heavy, doesn't come in a 5 speed and it's a little too heavy. Not being negative, but those are the things most seem to have a concern with. Here they have put a 7500 manufacturer's rebate to move it due to lack of sales(and it was just introduced a little while back)!
Rick Buehler had one in Texas(pretty cool set up)!

I drove one on my honeymoon in Hawaii for a day. The car is heavy and slow!!! It makes our prowler feel fast. Motor Trend has it doing 0-60 in 7.7 seconds. Ouch that is 2 seconds slower than our prowler @ 5.7 Any way I was Dissapointed in it. They are giving them away here in southern cali also. They can't seem to sell them, and I can see why! Looks Like this thing may follow the Lincon Blackwood in sales.(the Blackwood failed to sell 300 trucks in the first year.) I am saving my cash for the new C6 convert. next year. 400 hp baby!!!!

I wonder if slow sales will result in an early demise...resulting in the few SSR's sold to be worth some bucks someday?

I dunno....It sure looks cool...and I bet it sounds good...just a bit slow...LOL.

By all accounts,GM has never had a record of cancelling a model quickly, instead letting it run more than its course making just subtle changes every year....there is always a first time,I guess we'll see!

Like say ... the Aztek!

But first year's production numbers were supposed to be 10k I beleive. I'm pretty sure it was close to the entire Prowler's production. Wouldn't the potentional customers be close to the same population?

Anyway, Dr. P you were right next to the power issue solution down in Texas.
Check out this link of the vet engine in the SSR. Of course RSI is a POA vendor as well. But the performance numbers don't seem big enough to warrent the change. Still ... (Hope this isn't a repost)

I was over at the Adesa Auto Auctions yesterday, and seen a red SSR getting ready to go through the line. Had to leave but I'll try and see what it sold for. I was quite shocked that one would be going through the wholesale auctions already,,,,you'd think the dealers would still be retailing these trucks for a big profit???

Considering the extensive amount of upgrades, RSI's Z500 package (tweaked Z06, converter, exhaust, graphics) rings priced $14,900, including a three-year/36,000-mile warranty. Add the wheel, tire, and springs package ($4995), and you'll be at $20,000.
So add an extra 20,000 to the 45,000 new car price = $65,000 with the Z06 upgraded and it is still slower than Motor trends 5.7 0-60 mph run for the prowler!!
Makes you think about what kind of car one could by for the $65,000???

2004 SSR
0-60 mph 7.5
1/4 mile 15.3 @ 88.4
Braking, 60-0, ft 122
Slalom, mph 63.1
Skidpad, g 0.79

2004 RSI SSR
0-60 mph 5.9
1/4 mile 14.3 @ 97.2
Braking,60-0 ft 120
Slalom, mph 65.2
Skidpad, g 0.88
