What is the best thing to bring back the color to faded fiberglass or plastic?

When I was a kid my Dad would go over faded fiberglass (top area of a boat) with baby oil several times and then wax.

Would standard car polish or wax do it?

Randy--fiberglass usually has a gel coat finish that can be brought back with compounding.Watch out for too coarse a compound or you'll end up with swirl marks. Check with a marina for recommendations. You can buff plastic also, but with a very fine polish
