I just drove the White Crossfire convertible (not the SRT-6). This car is stunning up close!! I drove the 6 speed manual. This car feels a lot quicker than my 01 blk tie. I know the Horsepower is less, but the torque is right now!!And we all know Torque is what the driver feels. I was very very impressed. I think I just found my next car. Has anyone else drove this car??

Didn't get to drive it, but seen the first convertible at a dealership yesterday. WOW, is right! Many times better looking than the Z convert roadster. The sad thing I seen at this dealership was that they had a dozen other HT Crossfires just sitting there,,,,apparently with 'no' movement going on. What is the deal with the slow Crossfire sales, priced too high for consumer acceptance???

I'll bet you can get a sweet deal on a Crossfire right now. I am not sure why they are not selling. I think it was a mistake to release the car without the turbo in the first place. I hardly ever see one on the road. Look at the 300C. I am seeing them all over. The car is both practical and very fast. With gas pricese what they are now, not many are interested in a toy car.

iv'e driven the original one.power wise i wasn't impressed.the one you want is the srt6-330hp.i think starts around 35.000 list, would be worth waiting for.last week speed channel did a 1/2 hr. on the xfire and a little about the srt6,because they didnt have one yet .watch for it, the listing will say chrysler road test,at least you'll get info on car.

Jan,

I completely agree with you! I drove the Crossfire myself a few weeks ago and was not impressed with the power/performance. Anyone getting one should wait for the SRT-6 convertible. This car is beautiful but I'm not sure how many people will be interested in paying +40k for this car with both options when released. Many dealers here have +6 on hand with slow sales from what I can see. Still a little costly so I would assume price would drop off more with the new model coming out.

1-Guess again, the MSRP on a Crossfire SRT 6 Roadster (convertible) is $49,995, and they are not available yet. I believe the MSRP on the SRT 6 Coupe is just under $45,000.

2-Unless Daimler-Chrysler changes their policy, SRT models are not available for Friends and Family certificates.

3-I now have 700 miles on the Crossfire, which with the Friends... and the current factory rebate cost me $31,039.

4-Not sure whether the Crossfire is quicker than my Kat. I do know in it's own way it is every bit as much fun.

5-If I want to go fast, I'll drive my Viper which will run away and hide from the Crossfire, and the Kat (and probably the SRT 6 also!)

Looked at the new Crossfire conv. at my local dealer yeaterday....dark gray/blk.....VERY SHARP CAR.....BUT, MSRP is a hair over $40K....with current deals and rebates, a 2004 Vette conv can be purchased in the $44K range($10-$12K discounts)....sorry, but as well as I like DC products, the Vette conv is ALOT more car for the extra $4K.......the new Magnum and the new 300 are bargains though....

I probably agree with you Larry, although the Crossfire is a bargain relative to similar cars - SLK, Boxster, TT.

Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, you really can't knock the C5 (don't know about C6 yet, seen, not driven) in an overall performance for value equation. Sure, more exotic carsout there, fancier interiors, but, for power, torque, reliability and cost of maintnence, Chevy Corvette IS a true gem in the performance car world.

wayne.....being an old fat guy, I look at those other little cars as girls cars

ray.....being a Vette fan for ever and ever, I have put tens of thousands of miles on various Vettes thru the decades.....a very few very minor problems is all I have ever encountered......they are about as good a car as one can ask for in my book....
clutch on a '61
waterpump on a '62(the day I sold it)
headlight motor repair on a '64 cpe
battery or two
NO PROBLEMS at all on any of the C4 or C5 Vettes I have owned...

I drove the crossfire conv. with automatic. I like the autotrans more than the shifter. The shifter has the old trans out of the Mercedes SLK.(old model)
I like the crossfire a lot but it cost the same price like a new mercedes slk new.(..but the slk is average here...)
I my neighbourhood run a Crossfire V8-limmited with over 400hp.This thing blows the doors off.
My favorit roadster is still the prowler. I bought 5 weeks ago a Chevy SSR. It has more comfort, better steering, nice roof , a V8 and more cargo.room. But, the Prowler is still the better headturner and performer.
