Do we want to come in from Texarkana on I-30 to Dallas and take 635 to 35 south? OR Do we want to drop down to Shreveport and take US 79? Would that be a huge mistake? Would it be all stop and go traffic thru towns? How will traffic be on 635 on a Saturday or early Sunday?

Ed: If I were you I would take 30. You can do 635 if you want - it's a round about Dallas, but 30 will intersect with 35 near downtown Dallas and would be a straighter shot. However, I would assume that 635 south would have less traffic and will keep you out of big D. The traffic is not horrible on Saturday or Sunday. The other road you mentioned would be alot of stop and go through all of the little towns. So if you want to hit 35 from 30 and stay out of as much traffic as you can, go on 635 south to 35E south to Austin. If you decide to run to Shreveport and take 20 west you can also run into 35 on that and it will put well south of Dallas. T

Ed..

I would recommend taking 30 to 635 South to 35 South...

Only problem with taking 30 to downtown and picking up 35, is the area of town that you would be in on 35 is a not so friendly part of town, and if you were to have any problems, you might have more problems than expected... Just FYI....

See ya there,
Ron

Ed - take the above route,,,,,you will be just like Chevy Chase in the original Vacation movie,,,,,,,paying for directions,,,having your center caps stolen while waiting for a red light,,,and maybe having to drop Sandy off to run for her life to get out of that area.

I shouldn't be laughing,,,,I'll probably need directions also.

Ron - don't you think Ed would look good with all those 'jumping' Impalas around him?

Ed - I was just down there a week and half ago. If your question is about time, on a Sunday going on into Dallas on 30 should not run in to much traffic unless they start a new construction project there inj the next month.

The other route may be more scenic and I know you are not a big fan of Interstate cruising, it will just take you a little longer to get there.

It is with deep regret that I share that I will not now be able to come to Texas in June... Eleanor and I have so looked forward to this trip.... but now it is not possible.

My mother passed away today. We are having to go there now, which precludes another trip next month. Look forward to the next opportunity to meet new friends.
Take care, and y'all have fun in Texas!
