I flew to Florida on Thursday to drive Mom & Dad's car home so they could fly home.I left Winter Haven, Fl. around 7am Indiana time this morning. The speed limit on the interstate in Florida, Georgia and Tenn. for the most part is 70 MPH. Since I was making a QUICK trip I thought I would run with traffic. Most of the state of Florida I was driving 75 on the interstate, but the closer to Georgia, the closer to 80MPH. Once in Georgia running in a group of 8~10 Cars we drove 80~85 most all the way thru the state. Once in Tenn. we still were in the 80 ~ 85 MPH untill past Mont Eagle then slowed to 78~80. I normally will run 4 ~ 6 mph over the speed limit. We didn't slow much in work zones either, but everyone was traveling close to the same speed. With 3 lanes it seemed the center lane was the slow lane, people passing on both sides center staying same no matter what state. It just surprised me that the speed traveled and even seeing police cars sitting along the road only a few had cars pulled over (once I was going 70 in 55 and know he had to have gotten a whole line of cars and he never moved) Maybe they were just taking a coffee break. 11:35pm and 992.5 miles later I put their van in their garage and walked home. They (mom & dad) flew out of Orlando at 2:30pm Indiana time, had fish at the Fire Dept. fund raiser @6:15pm and in bed when I got home............WHAT A DAY

Larry - we had the same experience driving through Alabama to Cruising the Coast. Maybe the fact that it was the same weekend that NASCAR was running at Taladega had something to do with it, but 80 - 85 was the normal flow of traffic speed. I finally decided to stay with the flow when a full size truck with 40' dumpster on the back passed me and I was doing 75. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 04-25-2004 at 09:54 AM

Hwere in Georgia there is a lot of discussion as to how fast people drive. If you are doing 80 you will likely be getting run over. People still pass us like we are standing still.

I lock in speed control at 4-5 miles over on the Interstate while driving the Prowler. The Kat is too Standoutish......The Cops could pick me out in a crowd & I have no where to hide......

Just picked up my new kat from NY, drove through rain in mountains at 65 -70 mph,and was getting passed up alot, was a little nervous about possible hydroplaning but no problem. Once the rain was gone I was running 80-90 on I80,hit Chicago at 4:30 am and ran 85 all the way through on I94 and was getting passed.

I visited my son who is stationed in Fayetteville, NC the end of January. I made it from Rochester Hills, MI to Fayetteville in 12 hours...........even my son thought that was pretty good! How fast??? I was towing a U-Haul trailer with furniture, so I pretty much stuck to the speed limit..........I just didn't stop every 1/2 hour for the bathroom (Bob wasn't with me......I was alone)

Prowler draws too much attention so usually very near the speed limit....I'd rather save the "fine" dollars in the "mods" savings account I am building up..rather than send it to the local police department. Now my normal mode of transportation...that's another story! Hard to keep that twin turbo Audi V-8 anywhere near the posted speed limit!
