I just received the latest issue of Automobile magazine in the mail, In it they have a "sneak peak" of future cars and show the new Dodge Charger! Too bad it is just the new Chrysler 300 with the nose from the new Dodge Magnum wagon! The article says that Dodge dealers were complaining about only getting the wagon version of the new rear drive car and wanted a sedan also, so D/C pasted the nose of the Magnum wagon on the 300 body and will call it the Charger. I was hoping that D/C would bring out the show car Charger that made the auto show circuit a few years back. I had a 1969 Charger in high school with a 383 / 4 speed and when I saw the show car it reminded me of that version of the car. Although it was also a 4 door body, it was really sleak and nearly passed for a coupe. I think the Charger name should have been placed on something more sporty than the 300 4 door sedan with a different grille. I do like the 300 body lines but somehow it just doesn't fit the Charger name! JMO...

I am in complete agreement with you. The Charger concept that made the show circuit was really special. It carried the original charger body lines and the grill and tail light treatment screamed 69 charger. The one I saw was orange; I'd have to have it. Also, Dodge has advised NASCAR that the Intrepid name would be dropped and may be replaced with Charger. Surely the street car will look something like the race version. I cannot see how the 300 body lines can be translated into the current race body style.
Loved my Dodge Charger

Gordon.

I thought the same thing when Ford said they were going to use the Taurus body as their Nascar car....

I agree with what you & prowlrman said about the original Charger concept Orange that made the circuit... The only comment I heard was that it should have a 2-door version...
I'd like to see a more retro like body style on the 300 chasis & power train...

Even Ford was going to follow DC's lead by going retro with the retro design of the 2005 Mustang...

The 'Charger' revival is probably just as bad as the 'GTO' revival - when I heard that the GTO will be re-introduced I was ecstatic and when I saw the vehicle my reaction was:
"so what - what's that" ??

I guess the 2005 Mustang remains the ONLY car I'm looking forward to !

T-Bird - I'm with you...really looking forward to seeing the new Mustang in person. The photos I've seen look really good.

I read that on the new Mustang, You can program up to 35 different colored lights on the fly for your instrument panels, and other interior lights....with near infinite combinations available to you! I'm pretty sure that feature will be on the production car.

The new Mustang is beautiful, but I like the clean grille of the V-6 better than the clunky fog lights on the GT.

I would LOVE a new GT with the clean front grille and the classic "Boss" louvers on the back. The Boss Mustang was one of my favorite cars since I was little!

Where is the Chrysler diagrams of Charger. I hear there are stamping parts for it now but I have not seen a concept - only the journalists view on what it MIGHT look like
