...from 1989 till about 1998 I set up a bunch of magazine shoots in New Castle.....I had a number of high profile MOPAR Muscle as did others in the area.....this has always been a Chrysler town ....the first plant Walter P. purchased was the New Castle plant.....it was the biggest car plant in the world at a point in time.....lots of history from the Maxwell Corp in 1906 till DC sold out to Metaldyne a few months ago....we had cars in Hot Rod, Car Craft, all the MOPAR Muscle mags of the era etc etc including many cover shots.....I have articles about my cars in foreign magazines I can't even read....it was a blast for a lot of years...many of the cars have appeared in books as well as magazines, I find a new one or two every Christmas....I had a photographer from England and one from Sweeden that came by every year or so to shoot cars....there was a company that made a set of MOPAR Musclecar Cards, a 50 card set and nearly 30 of the pix were of cars at the New Castle photo shoots....one of my favorite cars belongs to a friend of mine in Hartford City.....of the 6 factory AFX cars made in 1965, Mike has owned 4 of them the last I knew....he still has the Landy car, a Ramchargers car and several other famous dragcars from the past....he also owns the Gas Ronda Mustang....I sold him a '70 CUDA funny car body a few years back that I was using in a project to build a "street funnycar"...project lost steam when my best buddy and mechanic died just as the project was getting off the ground......it was a blast to get to sit in the Landy car, even at idle.....most pix you see of this car today were shot at the New castle airport, or at the Muncie Dragway.....Mike rarely shows the car anymore....

I lived in the L.A area from 1986 to 1992 and my neighbor 3 homes down was Dandy Dick Landy's son! His son used to travel with his Dad to all the drags during the 60's and early 70's. Dick would come by his home often and I spent many nights drinking a beer in their garage and listening to Dick tell stories about his famed Mopar drag racing days and his cars. Naturally I have lost contact with them since I moved to Arizona, but the picture made me think about all the fun nights that were shared over a beer and talking with "Dandy Dick Landy"! Truly one of the Mopar racing legends. Check out his web site http://dicklandy.com/
