Already ranted on this one, but worth a second post. Got screwed on this "Air Intake" on eBay. Cheap filter, wrong intake tube, and extremely poor customer service. The "instructions" consisted only of a picture lifted from Fred Henkel's scrapbook. Fred is not involved with this seller, I already checked. I have put the stock Neon filter back on until I get a real cold air system.

At least I only got screwed $25. The guy is now selling them for $40. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2463449898

About 2 years ago I get invited to an open house of the latest laser clinic, most prominent surgeons etc.I've been debating to have my laser eye surgery done for a while,so I figured this being the appropriate time to make that decision. After leaving a $2000 deposit,my surgery gets scheduled for 3 months approximately after that date-because of a huge waiting list.I agree to the terms-no rush!
And I finally receive a registered letter about 2 months later advising me that the company has gone out of business and I have an option of persuing to get my deposit back at my own legal expense!
That's what I call getting majorly screwed.....it's been contact lenses for me ever since!

Looking for a unique gift for my Father,I came upon a company that offered the yield of a pistachio tree for 5 years shipped twice a year foe 5 years. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was expensive and nothing is too good for dear old Dad. We even got a picture of "our" tree.
The first year we got the two shipments of some really big and delicious nuts. The next year we got Zip.. the company claimed bankruptcy.

NOT SCREWED, BUT SUED.....
....I own various businesses in Indiana and Ohio.....every few months I seem to get involved in a lawsuit that I know nothing about.....I have been sued for $15K worth of plumbing supplies(I am not in the plumbing business)...I have been sued by a school system in northern Indiana for book rental, my kids are 25 and 28 years old....I have been sued several times by Home Depot for past due debts and I have never even been in one of their stores, and now I NEVER will...took several months of heated conversations and my threat of a harrassment suit to get to the bottom of that one....I was sued by Mattel Toy Corp for a semi load of toys, I like my kids, but not that well....actually the toys were delivered to another business in another town......most recently I was caught up in a lawsuit over some property near Chicago my company "defaulted" on several years before my company ever existed, and I had never even heard of the town where the property was.....then after getting that straightened out, the same attorney sued me again over an employees complaints, again, not my store, not my employee.....I told this dumba$$ I was going to make a personal "VISIT" to his office and he would never forget who I was after that, and maybe he might think twice before sending me court papers without doing his being DARNED certain I was the right guy......my businesses have a very simple name, and apparently a lot of other corporations use one that is very close....the state has mine at the top of the list alphabetically, so when someone calls the state, they give out my address, and the attorneys try to argue with me that I am the guy they are looking for.....it was funny the first few times, but after several years and about 8-9 false starts, it is getting old....

My first wife committed adulty twice during our 15 years of marriage. I divorced her after the 2nd time. I let her keep the house to raise our children in. In the divorce decree I was awarded half the $20,000 equity we had in the home. I had used an inheritance to place a downpayment on it. I was to received my half when one of three things occurred. 1) When our youngest child reached 18 2) When she remarried 3) If a boyfriend moved into the house. Her boyfriend moved in two weeks after I moved out. I asked for my share of the equity. They tried to get a loan but no one would lend them the money. She had no credit and he had bad credit. She agreed in writing to let me cut my support payments by half until my equity was paid. Before very long she let the house go into foreclosure because she did not make the payments. The loan was in my name so the Finance company sent me a letter telling me I was liable and it would affect my credit. I already had another home so I did not need nor could I afford the old one. Two days before forclosure we found a buyer but the price was enough to only pay the mortgage balance off and we lost all the equity. Then she calls and informs me she expects me to start making full support payments again. I remind her of our agreement but she said since she didn't get any equity neither should I. I contacted my attorney and he informed that the paper she signed was worthless because the court did not amend the divorce decree. Said I better start making the full payments or risk going to jail. So I lost roughly 10,000 dollars equity which by the way equaled the inheritance that I used as down payment.
This story however does have an extremely happy ending. I met and married the most wonderful women in the world. She is my soul mate, my best friend and the one true love of my life.

Purchased a grill on the POA classifieds from a Steve Austin who asked for a money order made out to J Harrison in Canada. He / they cashed the money order in Dec 2002 and sent several emails always with some reason for the delay or a promise to send the grill soon and eventually talked about sending the money back. Still no grill and no cash. Bummer

Well said Chuck. No reason to get upset. The really good ones are best left alone. We all have several I am sure.

I had a petroleum transport driver go to one of our c-stores to deliver gasoline. He got into an argument with a Subway cutomer and one thing lead to another which resulted in the customer beating our driver almost to death. The driver had multiple surgeries on his face and almost lost vision in his left eye. The customer broke his right arm and left hand. There are conflicting stories by witnesses, the police never arrested anyone and neither party filed charges against the other.

The driver's estranged wife is sueing me for basically putting her husband in a dangerous situation (2am Sunday delivery at a location near a nighclub) and the customer is sueing me for his medical bills, pain/suffering, loss of wages, etc. as a result of him defending himself against our driver.

To make matters worse my attorney strongly advised me to put the driver back to work upon release from his Dr. because he filed a Workman's Comp. claim and there are several precedents from other trials that have awarded huge verdits to employees who were fired after Workmen's Comp. claims were filed. Some juries/judges think co.s have fired employees because they filed the claims.

Bottom line is that I have 2 lawsuits pending due to a smarta** driver who mouthed off to the wrong redneck customer who beat the driver almost to death and I've got to keep the renegade driver on the payroll or the company will probably be open to another suit.

Tell me we don't need Tort reform!
