I don't know how it works but it does!

Get out your calculator and follow the directions:
1) PUNCH THE 1ST THREE DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE # INTO YOUR

CALCULATOR [without the area code]

2) MULTIPLY BY 80

3) ADD 1

4) MULTIPLY BY 250

5) ADD THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE #

6) ADD THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE # AGAIN

7) SUBTRACT 250

8) DIVIDE BY 2

RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER?

There's a much quicker way to do this... you could just
1) PUNCH THE 1ST THREE DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE # INTO YOUR CALCULATOR [without the area code]
2) PUNCH THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE #
RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER?

There's also a much slower way to do this... you could

1) PUNCH THE 1ST THREE DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE # INTO YOUR CALCULATOR [without the area code]
2) MULTIPLY BY 8
3) ADD 6
4) MULTIPLY BY 100
3) ADD 2
5) MULTIPLY BY 2
3) ADD 176573.76
6) MULTIPLY BY 25
7) ADD THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE #
8) ADD THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE # AGAIN
9) ADD THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE # AGAIN
10) ADD THE LAST FOUR DIGITS OF YOUR HOME PHONE # AGAIN
11) DIVIDE BY 4
12) SUBTRACT 1111111
