Chuck:

How 'bout a little friendly wager on who gets farther in the NCAA BBall tourney UConn or Duke. Both men and women.

Remember preseason Sports Illustrated ranked UConn men and women #1, Duke men and women #3.

Prowler calendars?

Ed (Cini) and Marty (Louisville) are fans, maybe they could referee?

PM or email me if you're game.

Randy, now this gets brought up, with Okafor out with a stress fracture, the women eliminated from the big east, and Tarausi playing horrible. Not that I have to stick up for CTPROWLER, but we all know that either men or women are capable of going all the way. I think that the preseason polls were right.DUKE IS GOING DOWN!!! Maybe a little wager is in store.

Tom:

Okafor injury just a smokescreen by Calhoun to get him rested up for the Big Dance. Big East regular season took it out of him I guess. Wonder how bad he would be banged up if he had to travel down Tobacco Road all season? If I remember correctly Calhoun did bring his team down to Tobacco Road in December against Carolina (5th place in the conference) and stumbled.

I didn't know UConn's women fell out of the tournament. All the rest should make them fresh for Duke and UT.

Seriously, I'm not a big Duke fan. Most of Duke student body and alum base from your neck of the woods, NY and Jersey. They played Rutgers at The Meadowlands and it was like a home game for Duke. No big fan of any ACC school, even though the company has season tixs at Carolina. Heck I didn't even go to an ACC school. I sat the bench at Western Carolina in the early '70s. I do love college b-ball and am actice in the Sports Council and happen to be a host for Duke this week here in Greensboro for the ACC Tourney.

Just felt frisky and wanted to get something started.

Have fun!

p.s. Ed sent me an email earlier and said all was good in Ciny because Ciny beat Louisville and Xavier beat St. Joe last night. That loss will probably cost St. Joe a #1 seed and could slide them to a 3rd since them got beat by 20 and X was unranked.

Lets wait and see the Brackets first!! As we both know it makes a big difference. I'm a Bigger UConn Football Fan! I've waited my whole Life for UConn to Play Div 1 football! Last year was there 2nd! (9-3) This year they join Big East! To bad Miami, BC, and VT screwed the Big East! It would have been awesome to see UConn play Miami at Home in UConn's New Stadium!!They beat some of your ACC teams pretty good! They should have beat NC state but UConns QB threw a interception in last few minutes! He still out played NC States QB who's going to be a first round draft pick in April! I'll bet

Randy - Ed had to be sweating the end of the Louisville/Cincy game. Lousiville team has forgotten how to close out a game. THey had the 16 game win streak and then once they lost, they forgot how to win again only winning 4 out of last 12 games. They have not been ableto adjust to the injuries to the team's three best players.

If they have an "on" night, they can beat anybody so some of the opposing coaches will be worrying.

I still think UConn women are the teasm to beat, but count out Tennessee in any NCAA women's basketball game. I predict Duke will make it to the regional's but not the Final Four.

On the men's side, ity is as wide open as I cn remember seeing it. I realy think any one of a dozen teams could win it depending on what happens in the early rounds. Conference tournaments have already shown some highly ranked teams can be beat so March Madness will be a blast.

I don't know which teams will survive to San Antonio but my guess is one team from the Big East, one from the ACC, one from the SEC, and a surprise team coming from a six or seven seed will make it.

I thought both UC and XU might lose tonight due to a letdown after a big win. UC is totally inconsistent and were lucky to beat Louisville. Louisville is pretty beat up but don't count them out.

ED - even thought Louisville lost, with the exception of the six minute run in the first half with no points, it was the best game they have played in a month. Maybe a week's rest for the injured will be better for them in the NCAA than playing two more hard conference tourney games back to back. C-USA will get 5,maybe 6 teams in the NCAA tournament - Charlotte did not do itself any favors losing early in the CSA tournament., but the other four league co-champions should make in it along with Louisville.

Marty, I agree wholeheartedly. In our paper Rick Pitino basically alluded to the same thought. We can use some rest. Maybe that has been UC's problem in the NCAA tourney the last decade. They win the C-USA and are worn out. They lose to a team they should beat in the first or second round.

Ed, I was sorry to see Rick P. and the gang go down. I knew him and his wife Joann and did a little work for them when he was coach of the Knicks way back when. They always treated people with class back here, and I have rooted for him ever since. Now UCONN is with out Villanueva too. bad ankle. Maybe it's like Randy said, Calhoun is just resting up for the big DANCE!! Wide open this year.

Yeah, NCAAs are gonna be a blast.

I know it's an over used statement, but this year anyone of 30 teams CAN win it. Yes there are, as usual, a half dozen top teams, but all of them have shown weaknesses and a team with a 5th of 6th seed could make it to the Final 4. Ex.- Maryland got hot and ran the table at the ACC Tourney and was a 6th seed there.

Ed-

The Bearcats better not look past East Tenn.

Good team from a good 3rd tier conference. Southern Conference is made up of schools that are stong in 1-AA football.

Randy, UC winds up in the toughest bracket every year. I am anxiously awaiting the X U - Louisville game. That could be a real good game. X is playing really well now. Lots of good games this week.
How was the week-end at the ACC tourney?

Ed-

Maybe the best ACC Tourney ever. Most games decided in final seconds or in overtime. Overtime championship with a 6th seed beating the 1st.

Coach K was unusually subdued after the game. He just said Maryland played with heart, kept coming back and deserved to win. Maybe a wakeup call for Duke.

Good luck to Cincy.
