I remember it like it was yesterday. We were on vacation deep in the heart of Mexico. Took a bus to Chiquaqua, Mexico. Actually went to Pancho Villa's home and met his real wife (he had lots of mistresses) who was 90 at that time. Had tea with her, saw the car Pancho was killed in (it was in the house). The next morning, we took what was called the "Train ride in the Sky" from Chiquaqua to Topalobampa. Ride took something like 12 14 hours, went through 200 tunnels, and over 75 expansion bridges. Made a brief stop at Copper Canyon (actually deeper and wider the Grand Canyon). Anyway, when we got to Topalobampa, there was only one TV (black/white) in the whole village in our hotel lobby. Us along with the whole town watched the landing dubbed over in Spanish. It was unbelievable. Being Americans in a foreign land, all the villagers acted as if our family had somehow helped in he effort and were congratulating us (in Spanish). I will never forget that day. Truly amazing. Incredibly nice folks. Years later, they closed down the "Train ride in the Sky" trip. It is no more........

At home with my family. Boy was i impressed! Never thought 35 years later we wouldn't have gone farther!!I think our Government knows a lot more then they are telling us! Why try to explore space when someone already told you the answers to your questions.------------------

1969, I was a sophomore in college. I remember watching the landing.....I just don't remember where I was. Those years a little fuzzy, for some reason!

LOL! What's with this "older guys and CJ" stuff?? On July 20, 1969.........Bob and I had been married for 1 1/2 years, I had just returned from a trip to Colorado to visit my family after quitting my job. I had planned to look for another job, but found out after returning that I was pregnant with my first son...... I wasn't sure which event was more amazing.....the walk on the moon or me having a child at the age of 20.

I was in a barracks. I was 20 and in the USAF. Watching it on TV was surreal and I was very proud. With all the negatives of the 60s (assassinations, war, race riots, drugs) it was a great way to cap off the decade in 1969. Even today I am amazed at the precision physics and astronautical engineering that went into making it happen.

What's with this post directed to "older guys and CJ"?? Do you think CJ is the only female that reads and enjoys this site? Newsflash!!! she isn't. Maybe the others don't post as often as she does but I know of plenty that do read it. I would post where I was in 1969 but since I'm not an "older guy or CJ" I don't figure I'm included.Thanks. nancy

Dixie Cat, ...Not meant to EXCLUDE anyone....a few months back I posted something and figured only older guys would know the answer or be interested, don't even remember what it was....CJ responded "what about me"....she has ALWAYS been upfront and proud of her age, so just as a tease I said "older guys and CJ"....personally, I think ALL THE POA GIRLS look 20 years old, so I can't ask for OLDER girls to post....Not polite ?? ...Those of us that grew up in the fifties/sixties experienced many things that will never be repeated, an exciting decade to be alive.... ....Honestly, I am just trying to get out of this by the skin of my teeth

Until the day he died my father never believed we went to the moon. He always said it was staged in the desert.

Tom--ET----My first wife saw a UFO hover behind my home march 31 around 1988 i think!( 20 minutes) I came home late and she told me at 1:00 am. April fools day? Next morning i woke up got the paper and it was front page news. It was seen all over Westchester County NY and CT. A guy wrote a book on it and she was in it. Men in Black came to visit her and it was really weird. It was triangle shaped and bright lights on its tips. Size of a Aircraft carrier. She though the woods behind the house was on fire. She had the closest look at it. So don't tell me ET isn't real!!!! Men in Black told me it was a good thing i wasn't home. If i went to investigate they are not friendly!!I wouldn't be around today! Fate is funny sometimes, i guess it wasn't my time. i could tell you things about this for hours but nows not the time. If you think we are alone, you better get your head examined!!------------------

I was on hill 279 in Vietnam, either in a foxhole, or flying in a chopper. Heard about it a couple days later on radio. Can't remember about being real excited, as I remember we were pretty busy with other priorities. Saving our on hides. It was news worthy at the time, later on after seeing some newscast, was quite exciting.
