what are you looking for?

range?

I have a cobra that mounts under the dash

if you want to move car to car they have hand held

The best antenna that you use to be able to buy was a K40

they need to be set for best transmission & reception

There are very few places anymore that deal in CB's other than truck stops, BUT, I know a guy and it is here on the east side. Works out of his garage by 10th & Post, (about a mile from the 4X4 parts place you bought your tires from)

Let me know if you want the number and I will see if I can find it

Been a long time since I've been into CB, but I know that if you want to get real range without getting lucky with a skip, you put a linear amp in line to boost signal. Be careful as this is illegal and they can trace the source if it's a stationary set... plus you'll talk over and bleed into the next channels and this will pi$$ off other local users big time. Use CB linear in your search feature and it will also put you on to wholesale sellers of CB equipment. Probably best to buy local unless you buy the SWR meter to adjust antenna length for optimum range--or have the store do it.

Gary, twin antennas are the only way to go.

I always used a Cobra 148GTL with a 350 watt linear (Pronounced lin-yer by truckers everywhere). Antenna was usually a K-40. With a properly tuned radio 10-15 miles is not out of the question but will be very well heard from 0-2 miles.

Gary, I was into the cb scene for a long time but never got too technical. Galaxy is a good brand radio. I like this one on ebay Galaxy DX949 . If you go without an amp(linear) make sure you have a power mike. It makes a big difference in how strong your voice will sound on the other end. There may be better antennas and I have used others but the K-40 is still the best bang for the buck. I have been thinking of putting my Cobra in the new truck but can't figure where to mount it yet. Hopefully you find someone in your area that gives you good advice. Start out without the linear and go from there to build it up to what you want. I had a Texas Star DX350 amp. Not sure if that's rms rating or peak.

I use a Radio Shack hand held and works okay for the Prowler trips, but it does have limited range,
