Society is not doomed...you're getting older. My mother thought the world was coming to an end when I listed to Frank Zappa, the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix! Somehow the we survived!

So maybe I overstated the doomed thing I thought most of the middle show content was crapola.

Music always changes,, Patty, and her 19yo daughter living in Reno, keep me current on most.
I thought the show was ok, just that, ok. And I'm real glad there was not alot of reference to the Justin/Jackson deal.

Didn't watch it! Love music, hate rap! If there are no musical instruments being played and no singing, then where is the music?

Overpaid, under educated, self indulgent, smug, foul mouthed group giving accolades to each other on how great they are. Pullleeezzz.

Granted, music has changed with each generation but, each at least had a beat and verse to it. This crotch grabbing, all women are beeotches stuff is just plain rediculous. Even my kiddos hate it.

We quit watching stuff like this when they let Slash use the "F" word 3 times on national TV.

For the first time in years I didn't see one second of it and neither did any of my family.

I love all kinds of music, but in many cases I hate to see or watch them perform. I'm also turned off by the Super Bowl incident and CBS telecasting both. Im was also turned off with Justin Timberlake being on the Grammy's.

We watched ABC's cut version of Pearl Harbor. Great again for the eighth time. I need a jolt evry now and then of how others have sacifice for us.

I was glad to see Luther Vandross get several awards. His songs you can stll hear some kind of music and also the words have some real meaning. I noticed that much of the Rap "Crap" did not win this time. Maybe there are many who are finally getting really tired of the stuff,I was sick of it about 5 years ago when it started. I hope that since the music industry is having so many problems with people downloading "just the good songs" they will have to produce CD's with more than one good song on them. That will eliminate "Rap" altogether.

My folks said the same thing about Bill Haley and the Comets. Then there was the Flapper era. And if you want to go back further, read up on Amadaus(?). What goes around, comes around.

I can still hear my mother, God rest her soul, asking me how the heck I could consider Jimi Hendrix's electric amp feedback as "music." I did then and still do today. The thing that bothers me about rap is the anger and brutal content of the lyrics.

One short story and I'll quit. I recall my mother (opera lover) telling my former wife (C&W music lover) that she loved The Opera. My wife (now ex) said the only kind of opera she liked was "Grand Ol' Opera.

40 years ago today was the Beatles first appearance on Ed Sullivan. We surely have gone a long way down hill in those 40 years. Very little music being made today.

I didn't see the Grammys, but I have a little ditty to relate... I used to play the Beatles music alot growing up. My mom hated it with a passion. Several years went by and I was listening to a record one day at home. Mom told me, "Now, THAT music isn't half bad, but that other crap you used to listen to was horrid!" I was listening to one of my old Beatles albums from back in the day... I guess the good stuff kinda tends to grow on a person. I also used to play for the Beatles... I was on a pee wee baseball team when I was 8. That was back in about 1967. The Beatles were big, and they renamed a team in the league, the Beatles. Parents raised their objections over the name and the following year, they changed the team's name to the Hawks. But, I can honestly say that I played for the Beatles in '67...

Pahs-

Yeah, "Dance with My Father" by Luther Vandross is a great tune and got Song of the Year.

Very emotional song for my wife since she lost her dad this past Easter.

I took my 7 year old daughter to a Father/Daughter dance last Friday night and they played "Butterfly Kisses" and "Dance with my Father". I'd be lieing if I said I didn't get choked up dancing with her to both songs.

My daughter just turned 31, she's been married 10 years to a great guy and she's pregnant with my first grandchild. She still calls herself Daddy's little princess, and she still is. Daughters are a lot of worry, but they are something special.
