Mine are long gone but I still have a weird experience when I listen to those songs that I used to have on 8track. As I am listening to the song I can remember the point where a song would fade out while the track was changing. Particularly true of songs from Styx's Grand Illusion.Anybody else have that same experience? ------------------ Just a prowler owner wannabe...but not for long.

Kat Dreamer.....yes, I too remember where the stops were in several songs I had on 8 track.....while living in China I bought a bunch of "HI Tech" stereo equipment to record my own 8 track tapes.....talk about a pain in the a$$....trying to time all the channels so the songs didn't go over the allotted time, and still use all the tape...it was a nightmare....I can still remember how many minutes and seconds some songs were.....it's a SICKNESS This message has been edited by tangled up in BLUE on 01-28-2004 at 10:46 PM

I still have my 8 track Pioneer deck and tapes stored in a box in my closet. Last time I played it, it was mounted in my 69 Charger (383 / 4 speed ..wish I still had that car!)..that I owned when I graduated from high school in 1972. Still have my reverb unit too! Remember those...loved the "boom" it made every time I crossed railroad tracks! My favorite 8 track was 3 Dog Night greatest hits, and the sound track from American Graffiti, but I think I still have about 30 tapes stored away. Maybe someday I'll remount it in an old classic car...

....I used to have an 8 track player mounted in a '69 Charger Daytona show car ....even during the late 1980s' many people at car shows asked what it was and how it worked.....

I still have my in home 8-track player. I also have 1, maybe 2 8-track players for my past cars. All of them work. Unfortunately, my 8-track tapes and tape case were stolen out of my truck several years back. I do still have about 3 of them that were in the house instead of in the case. Not only that, but I also have all my old 45's and even a collection of 78's, not to mention cassettes and 33's. Most of my cassettes were also stolen with my 8-tracks.------------------ Mickey 1997 Plymouth Prowler #156 Custom car cover Mopar front splash guards Real Rod stainless steel transmission cooler cover Mopar Trailer hitch and harness Real Rod weekender Infinity Kappa 63.5i door speakers 1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE Leather steering wheel cover Longhorn scratches Boomerschlobber

Look in the box that you keep your 8 track's in and you'll probably find that book of matches that you had to wedge into the player to get the 8 track to play properly? It's unbelievable what was state of the art then and what we have available now. This message has been edited by tz1238 on 01-29-2004 at 05:51 AM

Yeah, I kept a lot of my old stuff.I've got some reel-to-reels, 8 tracks, tons of cassettes (many I tape myself) and a lot of alblums & 45s. I've got one 8 track player, a turntable, a jukebox (plays 45s) and a cassette recorder. What I really want is an in car 45 record player. These were just before my day. They drained a battery pretty heavy and skipped real bad, but I remembered them being real cool when I'd cruise the drive-ins with my Dad in the early 60s. Remember the FM converters? ------------------

I did have mine and two players too. I ran across them one day and tried playing them. The tapes were so old many broke. The ones that didn't break sounded awful. Even VHS tapes only have a 10 year shelf life. I tried paying some of our older (20 years) VHS movies. The picture was still good but the sound was awful.

Yes, I still have a box of 8-tracks. Like Marty, saw them last year while searching for somethig else. Had several 8-track tape players. Last one was in my 1968 Corvette Roadster with Black Vinyl Hardtop, 427-435 Tri-Power with an L-88 cam, American Torque-thrusts, and Goodyear Polyglas Tires. Those were the good ole' days. Listening to Smokie Robinson, Johnny Rivers, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Ahhhhh------Take me Back............. Dave Mills, Ed's saying your old again!! (lol) Jim
