Was it a Prowler? Neon? Breze? Is it noted as a collectable? Just a curious thought. ( my minds wandering)------------------ Gary K

As I recall it was a Neon. I beleive Mr. Krehel mentioned it in a conversation at the muesum this past summer discussing that last Plymouth Prowler.

The last prowler was an orange one and Mike owns it too. I think the trunk lid was signed by everyone at CAAP.

Not sure about the last Plymouth, but here is the first. Built in June of 1928, there are only three surviving units with a serial number lower than mine. And before you ask, Mr. Monahan, I was not there to buy it new! This message has been edited by Dave Mills on 01-28-2004 at 07:00 PM

Last Plymouth was a Neon purchased by the executive at DC that had ordered the last Plymouth Prowler that Mike has.

Actually, Roman I bought the car in 1987 and I have traced its ownership back to 1977 where I lost the trail in West Virginia.

Great photo Dave. We have enjoyed talking about this car and now we get to see it. Thanks for the post. Very very cool. This is the oldest Plymouth; wondering about the next milestone for the driver? LOL Gordon

AS I understand it the exec originally was scheduled to get the last Prowler but then clarified his request as the last Plymouth. Hence the Prowler was availble. I beleive they offered it to a meuseum before they wised up and realized Mike and Judy would take extra good care of it. And now it is in a museum! This message has been edited by whealy on 01-28-2004 at 09:38 PM

That's correct!! There were quite a few anxious days in between, but I'm glad we didn't get the Neon Thanks Bob! Dave that's a great oldie to have. Can you drive it?

Yes we do drive the car, but it is very slow. The owner's manual lists top speed as 52 miles an hour, but that is really pushing the engine. It cruises pretty well between 35-40 mph.

Had nothing to do with money, Wayne. Whealy is mostly correct. The executive that ordered the car decided he wanted the last Plymouth, rather than the last Plymouth Prowler, so he opted for the Neon. DC approached Bob (who was on the Prowler Team) and asked if he knew of someone who might want the Prowler for it's historical value that would give it the proper home. Mike expressed interest in the car, but it had already been offered to another individual with a large Mopar collection. This person decided to pass on the car and Bob offered it to Mike, who, of course, jumped at the chance!!! The last Candy Red was offered to a Prowler owner who would have really liked it, but recognized the fact that the car should be treated as a collection/historical vehicle. This person, wanting a Candy Red, also wanted a CR that could be driven....not having to worry about the historical value. That person decided it would be better housed in the Krehel collection, so it was passed on and offered to Mike and Judy. The rest is history, as they say!!!!
