CNote: We just signed up for a commercial plan. My phone is through the business. We have 21 phones on our plan, but we didn't take any special promotions, I thought it was just their standard rate. This is only our second month in the plan.

That plan is currently (in today's paper) available for $ 55. I have Nextel also, but chose a limited number of minutes since I rarely talk on the phone and we have a house phone. I have direct connect and nationwide etc and it is $ 35 or 36.

I have SunCom at $49.00 a month. It includes free roaming and no long distance charges. I have free calling anytime within my calling area which is my county and 30 miles any direction outside my county. Then I have an additional 400 minutes anytime anywhere and unlimited after 9:00 weeknights and free unlimited anywhere on weekends.
Great deal for me!!

I have Nextel and just hate the limited range i have in this area.

When we have traveled i have experienced some of the same problems. Going with someone else in March.

Verizon Wireless 39.99 America's Choice with free mobile-mobile.

Just a note for our area... when we had those bad fires, it ate up some AT&T cell sites so nobody's at&t cells worked in the area while my verizon kept going strong.

I think I got some people to switch after that

We currently have Nextel and cannot wait for the contract to be over. We got it for the walkie-talkie feature, however, the coverage in this area is not good at all and we pay too much.

We will be going back to Verizon when the contract is up and will consider this a lesson learned, Verizon has much better coverage.

Hey Cliff, with our fire, none of our cell towers survived, the fire swept the mountain tops appox 36 hours after the start of the fire, but all were back up within hours of the crews being allowed in for restoration of services.

Dawn - I can imagine. I don't know how the verizon sites survived but I am glad they did! It was the only phone service we had for a while.

We almost went to NexTel but after hearing horror stories about the coverage in Ventura County we decided to go with Verizon. We were with AT&T before we switched but the coverage wasn't that great when we moved to Piru. Since then they have put a cell site in Fillmore and the service has improved some (now that they have the sites back up)

NEXTEL!!!!!
Nextel users shouldn't give up to soon. I think that they will put on a huge push to give better coverage where they don't already have it. The NASCAR deal, to me , makes me think that they are into doing things right and in a big way. I've got 10 units and we have great coverage here. I know that doesn't help you guys that are hurting for coverage right now. jmo

The coverage here is pretty good. Unfortunately there are two towers a few blocks from our house and none of the phones work well here at home, even the cordless land line is crummy at times.
