Does anyoneone out there know where I can find a Tap set-up for our second house? Kinda getting tired of bringing home a bunch of empty beer cans from the Lake house.

My son-in-law and i worked out a deal with the guy at the local liquor store. As long as we bought at least a keg of beer every other month he supplied everything we needed. We took an old refrigerator and drilled a hole in the door for the tap and we were ready to go.

Now the neighbors are all coming over to his horse barn to help us dispose of our beer and we actually are now using over a keg of beer EACH month. Obviously the liquor store guy loves us and it has really worked out very well.

I was at Sam's Club the other week and they have the whole setup with refrig for no more than 400.00. Could be less, I can't really recall the price.

Chuck We orginally had the twist and pump on the keg. Our problem with that system was that the beer was going flat as we were not drinking it fast enough. The son-in-law then worked a deal for the pressurized system. Now the beer stays fine without going flat. Jim

Reason i asked is i used to have a set up in my garage. I'm not sure right now if its still there on a shelf or it got thrown out in one of my clean-ups!!Its was a pressurized system. Like you said lone R it will go flat with the pump up type!! Slick --you could have it if i can find it. It was the type all you do is cut a hole in a cooler for the tap and fill the cooler with ice. The beer runs through pipes that cool the Beer.

You can usually get a CO2 tank and all the equipment you need from the same gas dealers you buy your welding gases from. At least that is where I got mine. You`ll have to deal with a gas distributor to fill the tank anyway.

As for the head that fits the keg. There are two types. One for domestic (American) beers and one for imports. You can get those from a beer distibutor. Talk to them and they`ll fix you up with one that is just for CO2.

Run your pressure at 7 to 10 psi (Thats about perfect for me) more pressure for more head and less for a flatter beer.

E-mail me if you`ve got questions. Not that I`ve ever did this before! LOL

CT We drilled a hole for the tap so it's on the outside of the door. That way you don't need to open the refrigerator door each time you get beer like you need to when you use a pump up. The glasses are in the freezer compartment so that the cold or iced mug problem is solved. The CO2 tank and regulator is on the side of the unit and all we did was drill another hole in the side of the refrigerator for the line and sealed around the hole.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. CT, thanks for the offer, but I am looking for one of the complete units as I do not have a spare fridge for in the game room. TZ, I'll ask my neighbor to take me to Sam's Club as I let my membership expire some years ago when BJ's and Costco moved into town. Skidmore, thanks for the info on the pressure.

I think he is on lake road 5-33. Not sure if that is close to you. All these other people on this site don't know about the special society at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Was elected Bar and Party Chairman in my fraternity in college. Wahhoooooo! 30 kegger parties. I was the sucker who had to carry the kegs. Good leg workout.

Look up a Bud or other beer distributor in the Yellow Pages. They will sell you the CO2 tank, lines, regulator and faucet-$90 or so without the tank. Also, buy line cleaner since the lines are supposed to be cleaned after each party but no one ever cleans them that reguarly.

If you have an old fridge take out the shelves, put the keg inside, drill through the front door using gaskets on the front and back side of the door.

TIP: Be careful about the PSI pressure-lock the fridge or put a twist tie lock on the pressure valve handle so your young kids' friends (they're curious) can't turn it. Too much pressure and you have a bomb, and the distributors will likely have articles on people getting killed via over-pressurized kegs. This is no laughing matter. You set the pressure at 10 psi and junior's 12 year old buddy, when you're gone, is over and kicks it up to 100 or so psi. Boom.
