Yesterday Sue and I went to the Indianapolis new car auto show.

It is no wonder why the BIG # are lossing market share. There were more Jap, German, Brit, and even Korean cars there than the american ones.

We are looking to sell the Dream Cruiser and get another larger vehicle for Sue to drive. I want another mini van for her and she wants crossover type vehicle. It will have to be a DC (buy on green slip) or Ford (I work for them).

We counted 3 concept cars, a Pontiac that looked like a 60's Cheetta, Jeep had one and Ford Tonka Truck

DC had a Magnum there but it was roped off, not a production vehicle. And since we were looking for a van, there were 2 DC vans we could sit in and a 3rd Town & Country on a show display with someone talking about it. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? a vehicle that is $40,000 max and basicly a 20 year old type vehicle, ON A TABLE? They had 2 Pacifica's, I got to fold all the seats down and find out there isn't enough room in the last row of seats for me, but the front was comfortable. Proved to Sue that she could not have a Jeep Wrangler as a daily driver, (really I want it to replace my Bronco but don't want her driving my truck Daily)

The only DC vehicle there to excite me was a new 3500 VAN. The high top they sell for cargo transportation. This thing is a BUS. I could stand up in it, it holds 9 people, has a MB engine.

Ford had 2 mini vans, she didn't like them either, She did want the Tonka Truck. This year they had 4 Mustangs, A plain jane, Cobra, Mach 1 and a convertible GT. Not much else in the Ford area.

Yes GM was there but we walk thru just like the furion stuff, except for the Caddy display. They had the new convertible they are building in Bowling Green Corvette plant. What a cool car. I did sit in a SSR and new Vette convertible, neither one screamed, TAKE ME HOME.

Surprise of the show is seeing a VW that sells for $72,000. When I think of VW, I think of my brothers `68 BUG.

I guess it proved one thing. They got our money to look at cars that we could drive around to a few dealers and see. The only good thing was not having to have some pushy salesman standing over our shoulders.

I guess I will sell the Dream Cruiser and she can start driving the `74 Coupe deVille, who needs a new car

Buy Ford, if you're a Ford employee. Remember where your paycheck comes from.

I'm getting a new F-150 Supercrew Lariat in March when my lease is up. I've had good luck with my last 2 F-150's. There is so many vehicles out there to choose from. You buy a 2004 and in the fall you see 3 or 4 2005's you would have rather had. I still feel Americans make the best Trucks, SUV's for the money!

Went looking at the new Ford F-150 looks great but just can't part with my 2000 F-150. No need to, it's been bulletproof. I agree when it comes to trucks nobody beats the good old USA!

Thanks Larry and Sue for going for me, sounds really like a dud,,,,

I got a free ticket but now I see no reason to go.

Seems like the market is for 18-35 group but nothing for us old folks.

Im going to the new car auto show this Sat and I imagined it just as you saw it. I hadn't had that 'oh my God I'll sell my blood if I have to' feeling about a car for a long time until the Prowler came out. Now I can't imagine any new car conjuring up that kind of emotion. It would take a heck of alot to stir me up the way the Prowler did even at 4 or 5 times the price. Everything else now is just a car. Jeff

CT, if you are getting another new Ford, or any one else, I can help with Xplan. Check with the dealer what Xplan price is. It should be about 1% less than invoice. one thing, I believe it must be personal not business, not 100% sure but I think that is correct.
