It happens more then you think. Its simple, you go away on vacation for a week to the islands. You leave saturday morning! During the night your furnace goes off. Well its below 32* outside and in a day or two it get so cold inside that your pipes freeze. It warms up a little during the day and for a few days the house is filling with water. You really don't have to be stupid. Just forgot to have someone watch the house while your away. I don't mean your next door neighbor just keeping and eye out on the driveway!

We had our water pipes freeze here in New Mexico a few times. Yes, we have freezing weather out here. Pat is from upstate New York and I was raised in Detroit and we have seen some ice in the winter month, never had this problem.Chuck is right about how this can happen
