FYI - Google Telephone Search
Google has implemented a new feature wherein you can type someone's telephone number into the search bar and hit enter and then you will be given a map to their house. Before forwarding this, I tested it by typing my telephone number in google.com. My phone number came up, and when I clicked on the MapQuest link, it actually mapped out where I live. Quite scary.
Please look up your own number. Read below for details. Think about it--if a child, single person, ANYONE gives out his/her phonenumber, someone can actually now look it up to find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming. This is not a hoax; MapQuest will put a star on your house on your street. In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to: http://www.google.com
Type your phone number in the search bar with dashes (i.e. 555-555-1212)and hit enter.
If you want to BLOCK Google from divulging your private information, simply click on the telephone icon next to your phone number. I removed my name, but it takes 48-hours. If you are unlisted in the phone book, you might not be in there, but it is a good idea just to check. Please forward on to friends and family

Doesn't a telephone book give the same info?

Do you have a Houston phone book to look that up on me? Or, say, on my stepdaughter? Would a child predator in your state likely have one? Or, maybe, a Prowler thief in your state, would they be likely to have a Houston phone book? Doesn't posting that info online make it alot easier for these people to find where you are? Even providing a map to your house? Find that in a phone book. The same info is available just by having your email address, in many cases.

You can go to any public library and get a Haines Criss Cross and they used to even list your employment in there. I don't know if they still do. It listed everyone's name in that household. That was years ago. The computer hooks you up with the clerk of courts, (auditor) for the property listings, driver's licenses, car registrations, etc. Trust me, it is very hard to hide for very long at this point.

The latest picture they had for me was 1990... It was nothing but an orange grove then.

the images on terraserever are updated occassionally. Our home was built in 1994 and was not on the webimage untillast year when they updated with a 2002 photo. When I checked on our office I could even see the car I used to drive parked out in front of the office.

As far as google and maps of our house. Granted this could potentially be used by thiefs, crooks, etc. but it also is very convenient for friends, family and can be accessed for useful purposes. The same info has always been available elsewhere. You can call directory assistance in most cities and ask for the address of any published phone number and then plug that into Mapquest or any other mapping service on the web.

Cool, some great images. However the place I wanted to see wasn't as good Terra. This image is all red and can't zoom in closer. Both images are from 1999. Cool technology

Wow!! I used the one Mike posted and you can see both of my Prowlers sitting in the driveway!!! Since it says it was taken in April, 2002, it had to have been when we had just taken both of them out of the bags after the winter. Too cool!!!

The opposite extreme to this problem is the nurse who killed 30 or 40 people because everyone was afraid to tell the truth to the next hospital, where he was applying for a job. They are afraid of lawsuits and he could just move on due to the nursiing shortage, etc.

Hey AC, according to Ed, your back already does look like that

Bob, maybe you can sell off the locks of hair or make a hat out of it.
