After several delays in production, Chevy finally got my 2003 Slingshot Yellow SSR built and in my hands today. It looks right at home with the Prowlers!

Drove it a whopping 65 miles so far. A quick trip through town received lots of smiles and waves. The down side is that around August of '04, Chevy will have produced just as many (or more) SSRs in 10 months as DC ever produced Prowlers. Will be interesting to see the reaction when we take the Prowlers and SSR out together for a weekend cruise.

Here are a few pics:

Do you ever stop Steve???? You make me feel like a pauper. Looks cool in that awesome garage of yours.

How many cars can you comfortably fit in there?

Wayne - I can fit 8 or 9 in the back row and still leave room to open the doors without hitting another car. On the front row I have 6 ten foot doors and 1 fourteen foot door, so usually have just one per door in the front row. The overall size is 110 x 40.

I did get rid of my '02 ZO6 and one of the wife's cars, so I really cut down the inventory by one

And a few more.

That is one awesome garage-time for me to put another addition on mine!
I drove the SSR and turned every head on the street but wished it had a standard 6 speed transmission.Don't you love that retractable hardtop?
Way to go.Is that one of the first ones in Texas?

AC - Hope to get a little more seat time today. I will update everyone with a few observations as time passes.

DRPROWLER - May be the first Yellow delivered, a search of GMbuyPower only showed 10 to 15 "Smokin' Asphalt" (black) in the state on Tuesday morning. May not be the first one in TX but I am positive it is the fastest

TKFisher - If the weather is nice I am sure Deb and the girls would love to caravan the 3 Prowlers and the SSR up to the parade. Are you going to post the date and time in the event section?

Nasty - The color is much nicer in the sunlight, the lights in my shop tend to darken it.

Thaks to everyone for the positive comments, this is the first car that I have been this excited about since the first Prowler.

I saw a Yellow one at Jupiter Chevrolet a few days ago still on the truck. Is that the one?

Tried a few shoots of the engine last night but they turned out crappy. Will take one this afternoon.

Cnote - Don't know if you saw mine on the truck but it was delivered at 7:15 am on Tuesday to my dealer out here in Weatherford.

Looks , the only thing I would like to see are better looking wheels for it. I'm sure G.M. will chrome the same wheels in the next model year. The SSR has a lot of potential, the aftermarket guys are going to have a ton of great mods for this ride. Congrats

Al
P.S. The SSR is built in the sister plant ( plant 2 )from where I retired from ( plant 1 ), the workers there are a great bunch of guys/gals.

Nice pix Steve! That's a nice stable of ooh la la beauties as well. Admittedly, I had my eyes set on getting an SSR. But after going to Reno's Hot August Nights '03, my heart was set on the Prowla'. While there, there was a comparison on the 2 hotties. As per Arv Voss/Auto Impression, the SSR packs a 5.3L/300 HP V8 that zips 0-60 in 7.6 secs while da'kat zooms at 0-60 in 5.9/6.0 secs. Also, an automotive editor named Jeff Karr stated in his review that "in a test-track slalom, the Prowler is actually capable of beating a Corvette by a slim margin".
Hmm, any comments from the car afficionados/junkies out there? Hava great one everybody.

Steve,
Are you going to add the three gauges that go at the base of the counsel? It is a dealer installed option.

Steve - I may need the exact dimensions of the SSR grill. Might develop the AC SSR Chrome Grill Treatment System

Has anyone set up a SSR website yet? Other than GM

Nice ride!

Bob - I had ordered the gauges originally but they are not available at this time. I will be adding them in the future. The only problem is that there is a large ash tray door under the dash in the center. Hopefully the door will still open once the gauges are installed.

The site Gary C posted is the best one I have found so far.
