1.7 megabits per second. Is that fast? Compared to what?
I seriously do not know what is considered fast on this type of test.

Compared to most . . . . your speed is AWESOME!
We have a wireless connection that is 256K and the test is showing about 200 on average.

Of course, speed is determined by how much you are willing to pay for your connection. If you are paying $20 a month and getting that speed (1.7M) that really is awesome, but if paying hundreds of dollars per month, which is possible, then you are getting what you pay for.

Thanks guys. I am at 1.2 megabit and 152.2 kilobytes (think the 152.2 is important for web surfing but not sure). I have dsl here at work. The reason I wanted to test is b/c it just seems a lot faster lately.

thanks
bob

Out here in the central part of Missouri, there is no DSL or cable available. We have about 2.5 puffs of smoke per minute with our high-speed smoke signals. DSL must be nice.

Norm and/or Pat, I have cable and it is either $45 or $49 a month but I am getting it half price for 6 months since I switched addresses and I am a NEW subscriber. I didn't follow their logic but accepted the 50 % reduction. I have had the cable well over a year prior to the recent move.

1.8 meg / cable... @97 month includes all the TV cable channels (with HBO showtime channels) & 'gold' internet connection

used to cost me $35 month for dial up (about 58k) PLUS $25 for the extra phone line.... what a deal

I just tried this again and it was 2.8 megabits a second. I thought my computer response was slower than before. They have been working on the cable out of the street this week, finally.

It's what kept me satisfied with this old 500 meg machine for the last 5 years. I'm not a puter expert, but download might be faster with the newer machine that I hope gets mailed soon! Are ya listening KidRock?? I'm chomping at the bit here.

Ordered DSL last week. Trying to get it installed Mon. or Tues. Come on down and we will run on down to Lake of the Ozarks and try to hook up with some of the guys down there. Weather looks like it is starting to break soon. 60's and 70's starting Tues or Wed.
