I was lucky enough to find two silver diecast kats. Now I would like to paint one to look like a Black Tie. They are 1/18 scale. Has anyone done this and if so, how were the results, what brand paint did you use?
Thanks Tom

I've used Mopar color matched paints

I have also used Mopar paints. They work well.

But Testors Spray enamel...gloss black. Mask off the silver and have silver touch-up paint handy for the over-bleed. The silver pinstripe can only be done well if you slice thin strips of metallic silver vinyl...(the typ you get from sign shops...5 bucks worth will last you a long time...

I've done several Monogram models and the photos are of my converted die cast trailer series that was silver when I bought it...

BT161 nice job.
I actually contacted Dr Ru about pin striping some models for me. He said he had tried a few of his own without much success and he graciously declined. I purchased pin stripe tape at the Hobby Shop and this stuff also works great. I bought silver for the Black Tie, red for the Woodward, blue for the Mulholland and gold for the Inca Gold Prowlers. Now if I could only come up with a way to get the Plymouth and/or Prowler script on the rear bumpers on my 1/24 scale collection.

Meangene....LOL....I guess I need a one-hair brush?!?

BeWare: You can't beat tape...I went nuts trying to paint the stripe before I got wise...Some models have the writing recessed in the bumper which I fill with a thinned silver.

thanks Tom, Sorry for the crappy pic quality though...it was with an old digital..I now have a Kodak DX 6340 which is amazing. Even takes movies with sound...all for $299. 3.1 megapixel to boot!
