My Son in Law was was killed in a Geo Metro in a roll over. I am certain the Mini has more safety features but it is too small to be a safe car in my book.

My daughter owns a Mini (not an S ).It is a blast to drive. I can imagine an S with more power = more fun. Customer service is incredible. There is a large supply of aftermarket tuning parts. There is a forum nearly as good as this one. There are a lot of MINI gatherings, and the owners seem friendly and enthusiastic about their cars.

Hey Gary.....
You think it's big enough to fit both of us in it at the same time?

They're built by BMW now so safety and reliability and parts availability are probably way up.

Too small for my likes though with all the Suburbans and tall trucks out here.

They do look cool though. A guy near here has a silver "S".

On a whim I test drove one awhile back. Was very impressed with the handling and the amount of room the driver and front seat passenger actually had once inside. If it wasn't for the fact that it's an import (I know, I know) and if I wasn't sharing the road with all of the larger vehicles I would have considered one. But, thats not the case.

I've had my Cooper S for over a year...it is a blast to drive and plenty big inside for the two of you __t arses!!
Really, once you sit in one you'll be amazed at how roomy it is inside..the front anyway. Lots of fun, love the supercharger whine...added a cat back Borla system, K&N air filter, 17" runflats and new wheels by CNote 7 Company. Mine also has the Nav and a greound effects kit..of course!
for a knockaround car it's great. BTW...it has a gillion airbags..

Mary has one on order from Dreyer Reinbold in Indy. She thinks they are a blast. She got the S with the John Cooper Works package.

I'm driving one as we speak and they are a blast. I think BMW makes their money on the 600 options they offer to gussy up the car. But it's worth it to take on a couple of those gussy options to add to the fun and good looks.

Get the manual shift and if you do, you'll have to try hard not to burn rubber.

Get two. That way you will have one for each foot. I hear roller skating is generally less tiring than skateboarding...
I wonder if a hemi will fit in it???
