Well this weekend our cat came up missing. His name is Alex and he has been a part of our family for the past 8 years. He is a black manx and weighed about 18lbs (no small cat) that is the most precious and loving cat in the world. We called our neighbors Monday to let them know so they could keep an eye out for him and one neighbor told us that another neighbor down our street found one dead in his yard last Fri morning. Well needless to say we were praying that it wasn’t him. They filed a police report and the animal control picked him up, he didn’t have a collar on him at the time he was found but did when he left our house. After Chris & I ran around town yesterday we have found out that Alex was killed Thurs night by some sick and demented people (I shouldn’t even call them people). One of our neighbors had taken pictures of it because they had never seen such a horrible thing done to an animal before. I don’t want to go into detail but this was nothing that another animal did, it was too precise and looked very calculated on how he was laid out on the lawn. I just hope that whoever did this will pay for it one way or another, Alex did not deserve to go like this and neither does any animal. I am posting this because I just can’t believe that there are people out there in this world who would do this, does no one have a conscience anymore or morals? Please don’t take your pets for granted and keep them close to home if possible, I know we would never have been able to keep him inside he wanted out every night and there was nothing that was going to stop him, he slept outside at night and came in during the day. Once again make sure to keep an eye on your pets. People always say that this can happen to you and you don’t believe it (I didn’t) but it can. Here is a pic of our Alex.

My precious Baby. This happened to our cat 12 years ago the same month. It broke our hearts and is truly the reason we moved from Texas. I loved Alex like my own. I am so sorry my darlings, this had to happen to you both. Love, MotherNote

I have a dog and 3 cats. All I can say is that I feel for your loss, and I hope that the guilty parties get what's coming to them...

Christy and Chris............How horrible!! I am so sorry to hear about your beloved pet. There are a lot of sick people in this world and I hope that they catch the ones that did this terrible thing. I know how I would feel if I lost any of mine, let alone in such an evil way. Don't let these criminals win.......go to the Humane Society and give another cat a wonderful home in honor of Alex.

Thank you so much for all your kind words. We are taking it one day at a time. I know it will get eaiser as the days go by. We do have 2 other cats, which I put a pic here of. The black on is John Daniel and the orange one is Gren. They don't go outside and if we do in the far future get another I am hoping he won't go out either.

Christy, sorry about your lost. We have had two dogs disappear from 1986-1991. Just two weeks ago we brought home a new puppy.(one reason why I missed PTS) When he goes outside, we are right beside him. I feel like we are over paranoid, but have no choice. While searching for our puppy, I heard so many awful stories from the shelters. There is so many sick people out there. To bad we have to live in a world like this. Again, I am so sorry about your lost.

Chris and Christy,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It's so sad that there are really sick people in the world like that. It's very discouraging. I do not have any cats, but I have two male shih tzus. Here in Louisiana, there have been problems of these evil people stealing smaller dogs and using them as "practice" in the training of pit bulls puppies; they're training the pit bulls for some kind of undergound dog fighting. These people are stealing dogs right out of the owners' yards. I'm very protective of my boys, "Smush" and "Bit". They're both inside pups, and they are only walked on a leash. It's sad that it's come to that, where it's too risky to even let pups run in their own yard. Some people are just plain sick. Hold your memories very close to your heart...

Smush

Bit

Our deepest sympathies,
Alicia, Smush, and Bit

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I would regularly check my backyard. On several occasions I found knives the neighbors had thrown over the fence at my dog. I was constantly finding food bits (who knows if they were poisoned) and chicken bones (that are known for splintering and choking dogs). Fortunately, none of the knives hit him, and I raised him on no people food so he never touched the foodscraps. (Or, he smelled something bad in them and never touched them.) He was a great dog. May he rest in peace. I have made a page in his memory. Its a long read, but worth it for any pet lover. You might want to have some Kleenex ready tho... Here's the site for anyone interested. http://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/dakota/762/boomer.htm

Hey Christy...
Chris told me the other day what had happened...I really do hope that they catch the sick bastard that did that...and we both wondered if it was meant for someone else, and your poor baby was murdered to cause someone else pain. Nonetheless, please accept our condolences...it is every bit as much a family member as a human being.
my thoughts are with you...
