Bob picked up his new 2004 Dodge Durango this past Friday. If you are looking for a new SUV or tow vehicle, you've got to drive one of these!!! They are a totally new vehicle from the bottom up!! The old Durangos were based on the Dodge Dakota truck chassis, but the 2004 is an entirely new chassis. This is one awesome vehicle!!! We had the chance to drive it this weekend to the cottage and I took a turn at it also. I love this vehicle!!! He had actually ordered the Durango with the Hemi engine, but the company (not realizing he'd already ordered a vehicle) ordered another one. Since the Hemi Durango wasn't available yet, this one came in first. He likes it so much that he will most likely keep this one and make the next one a Hemi. I was never comfortable in the old Durangos. I didn't like the Head/body toss, the seats were totally uncomfortable for me (being short) and actually dreaded having to ride in it for more than 15 minutes. The new Durango is a much tighter car. Drives like a dream. It rolls so well, that you can be going 85 and not even know it. It is so quiet...no road noise and has a digital stereo system to die for!!! The interior is very well done and very high-tech looking. This Durango also has the hands-free telephone, satellite radio and DVD player in the second row. The 2004 Durango goes into production on September 15. Go look at one and drive it!!! Here are some pictures: This message has been edited by CJ on 10-22-2003 at 10:39 PM |

CJ, That looks great. And that might keep me from being harrased again like I did this past weekend at a car show for towing a Mopar Kat with a For Excursion. Very nice. ------------------ |

CJ - thanks for the pictures and update on the 2K4 D. It's funny how you are not comfortable in the old Ds. That is about the only vehicle I can ride in for extended periods of time and not get cramped (well, my Dakota too, but that doesn't count since it is the same inside ... must be because I am tall We will be looking for a vehicle to replace our D next year (120K miles and counting - but I don't know that we will go with another SUV. We were hoping the Pacifica would have been considered a station wagon and not an SUV... insurance on SUVs in CA are outrageous. OH well... we still have time to look!

CJ: Thanks for the Pixs. Looks like they have REALLY upgraded the Durango. I bought one 2 years ago for one of our reps (I rode in it yesterday) and it looks nothing like Bob's inside or out. ------------------ |

CJ--Good luck with your new Suv. I'm not crazy about the looks of the front end. Its just my opinion, it might grow on me. The inside reminds me alot of Fords F-150 2004 sleek interior. I agree with you on the older durango's, my friend had one and i wasn't that impressed. As far as ride and comforts i couldn't comment on your 2004, but im sure its great. Good thing you have it it's supposed to be a rough winter.By the way how come we don't have a candy Red Prowler Icon on here, i have to use Red ------------------ |

Thanks for the post CJ. I am a big big fan of the Durango and especially it's original styling. After two Grand Cherokees I got one of the first off the truck in '98 and currently drive an 02. I have been hesitant about the 04 styling change but had a nice chat with Bob at PTS. I think we will make the jump to the 04. Do you know if the 04 Hemi will qualify for friends and family? Gordon |

Thanks for the photos, I am thinking about trading my Jeep Grand Cherokee on one, possibly a Hemi when they are available. |

Hey, not only is your new SUV beautiful, but I could hardly take my eyes off your neighborhood. Living in the desert all the time with a rock yard, well, when you see green, it's beautiful!!! Thanks for the pictures. |

Pretty funny Alley Cat. No I don't play golf and I live in an area where the HOA dictates that you can't clean up your yard or trim your trees and you can only have gravel driveways. You also can't water anywhere but your fenced areas so it's pretty dry out here. LOL When do you have time to play golf???? zzzzzzYou are always online with the POA? |

Production begins Monday September 15th at Newark. Be careful, CJ's correct, if you drive one of these you'll own it. This is an all new vehicle and it's well executed. |

Here is my rendering of what the Durango can look like with body treatments for those who like to customize and turn this thing into a race truck. I have lowered the truck, larger wheels, changed grill, different hood, body colored mirrors, new front fascia and side mouldings and a few other tweaks. |

Dodge has priced the redesigned 2004 Durango SLT, expected to be the top-selling Durango model, about $2,000 below the 2003 SLT. The 2004 SLT and all other models will have standard equipment not on the 2003 SLTs, such as a CD player, four-wheel antilock brakes and 17-inch wheels. The SUVs go on sale this month. The 2004 4wd SLT will cost $31,590, compared with $33,760 for the 2003 model. Both models offer a 4.7-liter V-8. All prices include transportation. |

Thanks CJ for the info. It looks good, but with some mods like Wayne came up with, this thing with a hemi, could be the ultimate hauler!!!! Jim |
