So last year about this time I apply for a job at a major computer company in Texas. We live in California but relocation was not out of the question then. I never heard anything back from the company in Texas and I had a decent job here so we canceled the relocation idea and committed to building the 2000 sq ft dream garage at our house here.Time warp to today... Now the garage is nearly done, only paving and landscaping to make it complete. I find out today that our CEO resigned and the company likely will fold in one month. To top it all off I got an unsolicited email from that computer company in Texas two days ago asking me if I was looking for a job. So now I have my dream garage but a decent job prospect in the wrong state... Life just happens in the wrong order sometimes... We coulda moved last year and built the dream garage in our new Texas home. This message has been edited by lavka on 08-20-2003 at 10:35 PM

Tom, there is no such thing as the "right" order...it's what you make it. You are very fortunate that the TX job offer is coming through simultaneously with this current announcement. I understand your frustration but it's only a garage. You have your health, your family, and a job offer to keep you covered when there are so many who lose it all. Best of luck to you.......remember you always have your prowler friends too! Debbie

I would say that the job offer came through at just the right time!! A garage is just a garage......can be built anywhere........As someone who has had to move 11 times (6 of those were state to state moves with the car company), you just go where the job is and go with the flow.

Think of it this way ... Now you know what changes to make that you would have made if you got to do it over.

Alot of garbage running through my head. Thank God I have a full bottle of Zaino and a car to polish for therapy. Thanks. This message has been edited by lavka on 08-20-2003 at 11:41 PM

I was thinking about starting a "Dear Abby" column but since me name is not Abby, it didn't make sense. If I deal with lovelorn issues I was afraid Big Foot Salzman would become a full time job for me. lol. Glad to be of help. lol I was just thinking, "Thank God I don't have a job and I have a cat". Talk about lucky.

David, We'd be looking at moving to Austin and the surrounding area. Dawn and I spent some time looking at how much house you can get for your dollar around there. Seems like you get alot for your money...

Lavka, my brother has a house for rent that sits on 3 acres in Austin right near the new airport off of Highway 71. It's a two bedroom one bath, but might allow you time to look around for the right house to purchase? Let me know if you are interested. Good Luck to you!! I'm a native Texan. Wait to you go down to the River at sunset and watch thousands of bats go out into the night down there!!! It's something to see.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful...last night we were not sure what we wanted to do. Today, we still do not know for sure. The job is not a for sure thing yet, just an opportunity that is being looked at really close right now. We will let you all know how it progresses. We are both native Texans, and with the business environment in CA right now, I keep thinking CA in the rearview mirror would be a good thing.

Hey, Austin is about 80 mile west of us here! You won't have to look long for a place, there are a lot of beautiful places in the Austin - Bastrop - Georgetown Area.Being from Southern California myself, I think the Austin Hill Country looks a lot like the San Deigo area. As far as the business environment, Austin is the place to be right now! Good luck and we hope to welcome you back to TEXAS! ------------------ 2001 Mulholland Edition Prowler 2001 King Ranch Edition Ford F-150
