The wait is finally over....the new motor for Bob's Rambler (Rumbler) just completed it's dyno runs at a shop here in Michigan. The 400 cid engine made back-to-back runs producing 541 hp at 6250 rpm and 515 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm on 93 octane pump gas. Norm and the motor is headed back to Wisconsin tonight and the car should be back on the road very shortly, just in time for Dream Cruise!!! Now, if he could just put that in my Candy Cat...............

...Very impressive dyno numbers....traction will be the next hurdle.....funny how these rare cars evoke certain memories....flashback summer of '69 thru summer of '71....I worked in Indy as a computer programmer for an insurance company and hauled riders back and forth to earn a little extra gas money...the big 396/375 drank lots of fuel....anyway, every afternoon I had to wait at the Riley Childrens Hospital for one of my passengers and she worked with a girl that drove one of these Ramblers to work every day....I remember her VERY well....she was a very tall young lady and was a dead ringer for the actress Julie Newmar.....long hair , short skirt....she was a beautiful lady...always wished I had had the nerve to ask her out.....but she got in the Rambler every day, fired it up and usually smoked the tires pulling into traffic on Michigan Ave.....I have seen these cars at car shows a few times thru the years, but the "tall girl" was the only person I ever saw who actually drove one of these rare cars....CJ/Bob...how many of these cars were manufactured or survived, any Idea ???

So -THAT'S the reason my car has been sitting unattended in Wisconsin. :D Glad to hear the numbers are so clse to the 550 target you set. I'll bet that will be a lot of fun at the WADC.

CJ - Norm does have a 3.5 he can beef up and put in your Candy Cat!!!!!

Larry.........I think (and don't take this as gospel) that there were about 1500 built and I am not sure if that included both paint schemes (A and B) or it it was about 1500 of Bob's paint scheme. Surviving? Who knows....

Marty.........none of that cr*p please........seems to me you cut in front of us for a while and they got behind on Bob's.... We're hoping we get it back now for Dream Cruise. We were supposed to pick it up July 1....then this weekend..........now maybe not until next... He's already missed most of the cruising season.....again. I told him he could tow it to CTC in October and I would be happy to drive the cat down!!! 3.5???....something different in mind.........

CJ and Bob, if you are coming to Twin Lakes next weekend and you are picking up the car, a couple of us could meet you (if you want company and have time). My wife Linda and I found a nice restaurant on Lake Marie( or is it Mary) right on the water that has a good menu and great scenery. Let me know if you are availble for an evening or whatever. I'll see who's available to meet and greet.

Paul, will let you all know if we will be making the trip next weekend (we'd BETTER be) and what our schedule will be. Bob and Colleen Hacker also asked about getting together and we will see what we can work out. Thanks so much for the offer..will try hard to make it happen!!! Maybe even give rides????
