My family and I just arrived down in Dallas for the week. Our plans include San Antonio and Houston. Looks like the tropical storm in the Gulf is coming in … sooner or later.

Amway, any advise on how we should “respect” this storm? Should we go no farther south than Dallas until it passes? Is San Antonio far enough inland to not worry about the storm? I assume Houston would be suspect because of it’s location depending on where it lands.

Any advise “other than pack up and go home” would be appreciated.

TIA,
WHealy

Whealy,
I live near San Antonio and you should not have any problems coming to S.A. The storm could bring us some ran and wind but nothing I would cancel your plans on. Houston should be ok because last I saw the strom was headed south. But anything can change. Hope you enjoy your Trip. -KD

Too unpredictable to forcast. Could hit Brownsville, then curve inland to the NE, just never know. As of tonight 10pm news, its forcast to hit between Tampico Mexico and south of Corpus, from there to cut SW. I'm in Houston and won't be going anywhere, but was a little concerned til this latest forcast. It really depends on when you plan on hitting this local. We have 20% rain tomorrow, and 30% the following 3 days, as long as it stays away. (Had 30% today and I got burnt mowing.) I would say follow your plans and stay tuned to the weather. If nothing else, you could head back north if it comes this way, but I think you should be fine. Let us know when you plan on being here and I'll see if I can meet up with you somewhere. I always look forward to meeting other Prowler owners and maybe we can get a few of us up for a little ride thru the park or something. Would love to see your car too. Will PM my number. Enjoy your trip!

Bill: So glad you all made it safely! Houston is getting the winds and rain right now already. These things usually go through pretty quickly. I bet that by Tuesday you should be okay to head south, but keep a watch on the forecasts just in case. See you tomorrow night for dinner! Tami and Ken

Well, it looks like the storm took a turn towards us in Houston. Take care on the road if you come this way, especially if you're in a high profile vehicle. Expect strong winds, lots of rain, and street flooding. They are forcasting up to 10" rain and about 45-50mph sustained rains hitting Houston tomorrow morning about 3AM, lasting thru Thursday.
UPDATE: 7/15 1PM - lite and little rain on NW side and can't even get a breeze to come in my open windows. I guess the news reports were a little "overblown" but with these things you just never know what's going to happen.
