I was watching my bid on EBAY tonight and just within 1 minute, 22 seconds of the auction end, AOL froze up on me. By the time I got back the auction was over and Moparmaniac had outbid me. By the way , I think he is trying to corner the market on Prowler items. He is definitely a very savvy bidder. I tip my hat to him. I have been really upset with AOL lately and would like to dump them. But it is such a hassle to reset everything.

Rich, cable is the only way to go. It doesn't happen with a cable hook-up, you are almost always INSTANTEOUS

Way back when I signed up with AOL, it lasted about 10 minutes and kept locking up and getting bumped, went with another dialup service... AOL really is terrible..... try earthlink.com, if cable or DSL is unavailable....

I have cable--but still have aol!! The problem with bidding is you don't know how much other guy bid! Example-I want a golf club thats currently $100. I feel its a $400 club and worth $300 to me. So i bid $125 first. So now i'm the high bidder. Then i go back and Bid $300. It still shows $125 until someone outbids me at $300. So you can think there is 2 minutes left and its only $125 and your bidding against this guy at same time. Well i'm not even home and i am still bidding against you when you bid $140-$160-$200 etc. And if you stop at $210 i get it for what $220. Best way to bid on ebay is that way. It will frustrate people who think your sitting there bidding against them. Just know how much you will spend for that item. I don't loose often. but i'm no dummy, not going to Pay $410 for a Prowler car cover when i could get a custom one alot cheaper!!$85 for a plastic WalMart 18 wheeler with Prowler logo?? thats $12 at Walmart!!!LOL--Boy would i like to find these guys when i have some swampland to sell!!LOL I've bought 120 items on ebay so far this yr (and 4 Cars!) so if you want advise let me know. Barbs bought more things then me!!LOL!!!

I dumped AOL 3 1/2 years ago because it locked up or knocked me off all of the time. If you don't want to go cable try PEOPLEPC.COM. I have never been knocked off or had it lock up.

Chuck, you do not have to bid twice to accomplish what you are talking about. If the opening/minimum bid is $ 10.00 and you bid $1000.00 you are still the high bidder and it only shows $ 10 until the next bidder makes a bid. If he bids $ 500 you will be at $ 505 and if he bids $ 713 you will be at $ 718 or 723, or whatever it jumps at that point. If you are the ONLY bidder you will get it for $ 10. You can also bid so that you will remain high bidder, no matter what. Most bids are made within the LAST 2 minutes of the auction.
