Hello all,

My wife told me today she wants a Hummer H2.
I need all the help I can get on this. I have started to researching the H2. Any advise the H2 owners can provide will be greatly appreciated...Are there any discounts etc. I was looking at the basic package. Here it looks like sticker of 51000 is norm. I have requested quotes from 3 dealerships here in Houston.

She must think her PT is not being seen ..

I Love mine, very soft ride, better than my CTS... The H3 will be introduced in fall of 04, way smaller vehicle and has to get better mileage than the H2. I put on the Corsa cat Back system and picked up 2 miles to the gallon and sounds way better.

If you are tall, you might not want the sunroof option plus you gain alot of overhead storage.

Also I had the spare mounted on the rear and took it off because they all rattle.

The market is flooded right now and the market up is only about 11%, they will deal now...

probably not gonna be the most popular post here... as I know there are several H2 owners here as well... but recently (about a month ago) read in USA Today, made front page of the biz section, that H2 owners (according to JDPower Assoc... the car 'survey' people) were THE most DISsatisfied customers of ANY car EVER made... over 200 complaints per 1000 owners....

GT, I understand where you are coming from, a smart customer like myself had all the recalls and TSB's done before delivery,,, The radio quit the other day and went in and after 8 minutes she was done fixed...

The H3 on the other hand base price is 29900 and loaded around 35ish, it should be very cool.

I have had a ton of vehicles, the H2 is in the Top Best five vehicles I have had the pleasure of owning and Number 1 for a 4 wheel drive. The soft ride really hooks it up in Snow and Ice.

I bought an H2 the first week they were out, sold it 6 weeks later. One reason:

The air conditioning is to weak for the size of the cabin. Just could not cool the vehicle down on a hot day. This is very important in Texas. The similar size Tahoe has rear air controls and vents all over, does a great job.

GenoTex, Just to clear up the JD Power thing, think of it as 2.2 complaints per 100 vehicles. Number one complaint...get ready...GAS MILEAGE..DUH...who bought one of these and thought it was an economy car? Number two complaint, the owners said the headlights needed to be aligned. Guess what the number one complaint on the Toyota Prius was...GAS MILEAGE. Dig into JD Power survey results and you start to realize how personal preference (not enough cup holders/not in the right place/no left handed cup holders, etc) is really what most of the report is about, not quality.

If they bring the H3 out with rear air (not just the two vents out of the center console) I would buy another one.

Jim;
Mary and I purchased a H2 in December and now have 10,000 miles on it. We are totally pleased with it. If you are going to pull a trailer with it I suggest you add the air suspension option. We have 24' enclosed car hauler that we pull with it and it does quite well. I have a friend that doesn't have the air suspension and it does not pull a trailer as well. The only problem we have had with it is a door seal came loose. If want gas mileage don't buy it. It rides and handles very nice. The gas mileage pulling a trailer is between 8 and 9 at 65 mph. You can get around 12 mph with out the trailer if you keep your foot out it. If you have any questions please e-mail me at mbardens@direcpc.com.

Hi Jim

Let me first say that we've got a Mercedes ML430 and I've wanted to unload it and get an H2 since I saw the first picture of one in an article many moons before they were actually released. Drove one and fell in love with it. I owned a Toy Store back in the '80s (pre-owned Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pantera, Lotus, early Vettes, etc.) and good, bad, or indifferent, I just flat refuse to let the dealers hose me on hot new products (can't bring myself to pay over window, no exceptions), so I've waited for the market to settle down a bit before I get serious about it again. That and I'm not sure I want a daily driver that gets 9 MPG. But I digress.

Here's a photo someone sent me of a Hummer that had a bit of a disagreement with a Dodge Ram - not pretty. While I realize that new cars have "crumple zones" to protect the occupants, the damage seemed a bit extreme. I doubt this would keep me from buying one, but it did make me want to see what the H2's safety record looks like first. Especially if I'm puttin' the wife in it. Just something to think about.

Ok wait. I just re-read what I wrote and it's "freakin' me out man" - I can't believe I'm actually considering a car's safety record before buying it LOL. I used race a Vance & Hines built Suzuki GSXR 1100 @ 170mph and I'm an ex-skydiver. What the heck is happening to me?

Any insight into this apparent affliction would be greatly appreciated LOL

Looked like the H2 did a great job on Absorbing the impact way better than the Dodge.

I feel safer in the H2 than the Prowler,,,

For the A/C deal, mine works great, but the Pewter is more than likey the second coolest color,,,mine black CTS is a oven compared to the H2, my A/C works great in the Hummer... Just don't buy Black/colours cars in very hot and humid areas.

Hi Gary

I'm new here and I don't think I've had the chance to compliment you on the outstanding job you did on your Prowler. Bravo old chap

Platinum is actually the color I want - I like the yellow too, but I've seen too many of 'em already. I've already got all the mods picked out

You're absolutely right about the H2 absorbing the impact better - much better - than the Dodge in that photo. I'm a victim of H2s image makers -the H2 looks and feels so tough I guess I would've expected the Dodge to look like it got hit by a bus and the H2 to appear relatively unscathed.

You mean my Prowler's not as safe as an H2?

Thanks for all the advise. Lori is looking for a red H2. We will be on vacation next week I will have time then to look for one.

The collision photo is very convincing. I would not want to tangle with a H2 in my prowler. Do not think there would be much left of me or the prowler. When driving the prowler I keep out front makes me feel safer..
I am glad to hear the A/C is OK. That would have killed the deal for sure. We should know later this week. She want to drive one soon.

I also will not pay sticker for any thing..

Thanks again ..
