Didn't know if I wanted to post this or not... but many of you have become good friends, so I thought I'd let you know.

A good friend of mine passed away Sunday - way too young.

He was only 36. He was very happily married, no kids. He was an only child. I visited his parents today, who are friends of mine too.

We didn't keep in touch very much over the last few years, but I wish we had.

He passed away suddenly Sunday morning, apparently from a heart attack. He was a very large guy, but didn't appear to be sick and this really came out of the blue.

Scott and I graduated high school together and we took classes together at the local community college, and for a while we lived in neighboring apartments. We shot basketball, we played darts, we played video games, we laughed a lot, and like most young adults, we drank a lot, too.... We had all good times. I was an usher at his wedding - that's the only time ever that I wore a tuxedo - I had all but forgotten about that.

His name was Scott E. Thompson. He was an electrical/ mechanical designer, respsonsible for lay-out of drawings provided by Engineers. When we were closer friends he had a hobby of collecting music - probably rivaling many disc jockeys. He was very well loved, and will be missed. I am going to miss Scott. I can't begin to imagine how is wife feels. I know she is basically devastated.

This rain we have been having over the last few days, I think are tears for Scott.

Damon,

So very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and his family. It always seems doubly hard when someone that young passes away. My brother was one week short of his 38th birthday when he passed away and all I kept thinking was that he wasn't supposed to go before me (he was 11 years younger than me). Just keeping thinking about all the good times and memories you had with him.....it will help.

Damon, sorry to hear you lost a good buddy. You are correct, that is way too young. Remember the good times and take it from an old guy, don't put off having fun. Don't save up everything for a rainy day, either. None of us know if we will make it to that rainy day. Drive your car, enjoy your time with your dad and have fun.
Again, sorry for you loss.

Let me add my thoughts and prayers . . . and you are right, he was way too young. Remember that life is too short, so enjoy the time that we have, and try to do at least one nice thing for someone else each day. It will reap so many rewards.

VCD , Sorry to hear about your loss. I just learned my Cousin who is only a month older than me (57), had three mild heart attacks and is having a triple bypass surgery.
