While on the Hot Rod Power Tour 2003, I took a few pics of the SSR and had the chance for a couple side by side with the Prowler. This SSR has been custom painted and Hot Rodded a little... It was driven the entire route by some of the GM execs and magazine editors... It's good looking truck. Sits a little high but, hey it's a truck...

Front View of Prowler & SSR ...

Rear View ...

SSR with hardtop up... this hardtop folds back into the bed...

SSR side view ...

Inside view with waterfall console look ...

Under hood & motor ...

On the leg from Memphis to Jackson, we actually passed it on the road just outside Jackson. John Moss (GM exec) was driving at the time (top down). It looked good and we all gave the customary wave to ever other Power Tour car along the way... The SSR drew lots of attention at all the stops... Should be in dealers soon... John was watching the PT Hemi truck do the wheelie down the track at Red River Raceway and I asked can the SSR do that -- He said yes...

I think it would look a lot better without that bar all the way across the front at the top of the grille. The rest of it looks pretty good but I think that is bizarre looking.

May the good Lord help me,,,,I'm going to agree with Ed,,chrome front grill bar looks like squat.

Not impressed yet. Will have to examine when they hit the dealer's floor.

Thanks Laddie for the pictures

Laddie:

Thanks for the Pics!

I've always liked the looks of the SSR. I'm with you guys in that I'm anxious to really see one in a showroom. Concept and even this modded-up (such a term?) I'm sure are different for the real thing. I like what I see though.

Thanks for posting the SSR photos!

I have one on order in Sling Shot Yellow. Last date I have for delivery is a vague late June to mid July...the wait is killing me.

Thought the SSR really looked cool, and you must admit I think it has more trunk space than the Kat, but they put that silly chevy emblem right on the front grill, yuck!! That wrecked it for me. They need a redesign on they emblem for me. Guess I just need to keep the kat, Like that idea...

Nice pics and the SSR does look nice. But GM is hot on putting a big bar across the front of all their cars...They call it a styling cue....It looks forced to me.

But the SSR does have some nice lines!
