After this posting, I'm headed down to Charlotte for then 600. AC - I know you're a big open wheel guy. What do you think about Robbie Gordon pulling the double? Not to leave anyone hanging; I think he'll finish in the top 7 in Indy and in the top 20 at Charlotte. Starting at the back of the field in Charlotte (due to missing the drivers' meeting while at Indy) leaves Gordon venerable to wreaks in front him, plus the fatique factor. Charlotte is gonna be looooong. 600 miles plus the forecast for showers. Probably a lot of stops, drying, starts etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the thing isn't over until 11 or 12:00! ------------------ |

After the 33 FIXED car field at Indy(no bump day)truly a sad day for the 500,,,One more nail in the coffin. This move by Tony George just makes NASCAR more stronger and less sponsors looking at the open wheel series. Cart has already dumped 7 mil into the teams to keep them a float. NASCAR is here to stay and open wheeel racing as we know it might not survive, T. George has had 5 years to make this work and now it looks grim. Make sure you take a rain coat, it going to be a long wet night at the Only Race being held today. ------------------ |

Gary: Was in Union 76 Suite so really didn't get THAT wet. Unfortunately was rain shortened. A 6:00 start on the right coast doesn't leave a lot of time for weather delays. Parking lots were a MESS! What was run was a good show. The B-2 Stealth Bomber and Thunderbird flyovers were awesome! They announced that that was the first time the Thunderbirds had preformed at a Nascar event. That was hard for me to believe. ------------------ |

Randy - Didn't see your post until this morning, sorry. First,,,don't listen to Gary C about open wheel racing,,,,his days there were long ago Indy looked packed to me,,,what 450,000 race fans enjoying open wheel, 240 mph straight away speeds,,,,side by side racing at it's best,,,,guys (and one gal) with balls of steel. I thought Robby Gordon (the only 'man' with the name of Gordan in racing) would finish in the top 7 at Indy. Face it, he was in the #3 car in his team. If he had Tony K's car he might have won the race and not finish 3rd as Tony did. It was a good race yesterday,,,not great, but a good one anyway. I was just thinking that Robbie would finish in the top 10 at the 600. The guy can drive anything that rolls and he has nerves of steel. Gary - I see Toyota is getting into NASCAR. Maybe in five years you can go wish Kevin luck while driving what,,,,a Avalon, a Maxima, a WRK, a Evolution, a Accord???? When the Jap big hitters get into NASCAR and start winning in the future, that is when you will see the implosion of the NASCAR redneck, one-tooth, fan base. JMO |

Ticket prices are up for next year at Daytona and probably all races! I know alot of Nascar guys are not going to Daytona because of the increases. You cannot characterize all nascar fans as toothless Rednecks LOL!!If Prices keep going up how are all these fans going to afford it.I love to watch Racing, all kinds from Indy Cars to Stock cars, Modifieds, Drag , midgets, Etc. One of my friends sons is one of the top Go-Kart drivers in his age group in the country. I like watching him race if i had more time. Money rules the world, especially in this country. Where there are products to sell the sponcors will spend it to promote there products. I would like to see a Japanese car race at the Daytona 500. The Fords, Chevys, Pontiac's, Dodge's aren't like the ones on the roads anyway, so who cares. If Honda and Toyota can build engines for Indy cars they could do the same very easily for a Winston cup car. ------------------ |

I was watching INSIDE EDITION and they said that when Celine Dion's contract expires in Vegas, she is going to drive a Dodge on the Nascar circuit, due to the dedication of the fans to the sponsors. Oh wait a minute, that was a different thread. Nevermind. But INSIDE EDITION is ALWAYS correct. |
