Marty, I would go for the real deal. The new ones are never as good as the original, unless you want the modern comfort. |

Go for it! Drive it a couple of years then make a Hemi clone out of it and then sell it at the BJ auction for $250,000. Then buy a 2008 Challenger and pocket the $200,000 profit. |

Marty, Looks like a very nice car....but 50K miles for $23K for 33 year old technology for an every day driver? Think about the obsolete brakes, steering, suspension, trans. with open converter, engine which was designed to run on leaded fuel,(unless you feed her lots of additives you will burn up the valves/seats in the heads) suspension bushings which are dry rotted, along with dried out powertrain seals and body seals. Also, replacement parts will be hard to come by and be expensive. My point is, I really don't think you would be happy with the care and feeding of this vehicle as a every day driver. Wait and by the new one! You will be better off from a safety standpoint, fuel economy, performance, handling, braking, and emissions standpoint! |

This red one has a 360 replacing the original 340 and has a cam and headers so it is far from original - but looks like it would make a decent driver. I could keep the Prowler in the garage like a lot of other POA people and bring the kat out on weekends and nice days. I just don't know how much $$$ I'll be spending if I cotinue to put 25 to 30K a year on the Prowler. The same could be said for driving a Muscle Car daily so I may just wait until the new Challenger comes out. Dave I agree with your thoughts about the originals but driving a 33 year old car full time may require more repair bills than I want to spend. |

Marty: This car is pretty, yea pretty expensive. Just some things I would check out if your interested in it. If the car is close to you go up and check to make sure that the vin tag on the dash is the same as the inner fender tag and that it matches the radiator support. If you check out the picture of the speedo it has had the rally dash put in as you can see under it there is a gaping hole were the non rally speedo used to be. Molding around the head lights and hood should be chrome. The turn signals indicators on top of the fenders are located to close to the hood and should be further toward the outside of the fender. Exhaust tips on a rally car should exit out a different rear valance and have chrome tips. Front bumper should have matching bumper pads like the back. Engine that year should have been blue but you said it was changed, look under the era right below the cylinder head on the driver side of the front of the block and there should be a 360 in that number not a 318 if it is truly a 360. In the picture I see that it has the inner fender tag by the battery, if you can get all the numbers off of that tag and make sure that it has the JH23H3B230145 on it. The vin on dash and then easy to check radiator support that number is located just right of center on the top rail and should read JH23H3 at least, I will be more that happy to give you the what's up on this car. Just going by the add the 5 digit tells me that this is a 340 car. I noticed that the door jamb sticker is missing and could be missing for a reason as he stated that the car was faded and he repainted it so that can't be checked a smart man would have taped that off before the paint if the number was matching. Clone cars are bringing good money as a friend Gene bought one that was badged a GTX and was sold as a clone. This seller on the Challenger my not be so honest and could be hiding something like 318 car in which case KILLING the value. Mileage is low on the spedo but I don't think that it came in this car... Your Prowler Pal John Collins=onecatnodog. P.S. picture posted of the Nash Bridges Hemi Cuda is also a clone car.... |

Marty: I use my '75 Duster and my '66 Sport Fury a lot in the summer. The biggest problem I have is getting them to stop. Those brakes seemed fine when I was a kid, just not used to them anymore. But, I can tell you this. If I lived in a climate where Winter wasn't a factor, I would have one modern car for trips and use the older ones for everything else. |

onecatnodog - you obviously know WAY more than me about what the car should be. Thanks for the input. If I decide to get serious on this I may contact yuou for for more help on what to look for. Marty |
