HI,

As this forum helped me to find my Kat, I thought that maybe it will help me to find a solution to problem.

I'm a 33 year old French Senior Graphic Designer, I lived in London UK for the passed 10 years, but now it is time to move on and try to move in America.

The thing is I don't know where to start and know that is really difficult to do.

So, I thought that maybe someone in this forum did it and could help me out with the things to do.

Also, If someone is in the design industry, I would need some good website where to find Jobs appointments or even (in my dreams) offering me a job......

Thanx in advance to those who will help me.

Jimmy

Yes, I remember, how are you doing???

Life in London is OK but it is time to move on and the next step will be America.

I'm driving and enjoying the kat as much as possible, I did 5000 miles and fews trip to france in the last 10 months. I'm the star everywhere I go, I will try to find few pictures of car show or cruise I'm regularly going to in London.

Jimmy, try monster.com there are probably specific headhunting agencies here for your skillset, but I figure monster would be a good place to start.

It's more then just finding a job, you would need sponsorship and most companies these days aren't bellying up the cash or legal fees for that. Probably not a bad thing as the ones that did offered you peanuts because of that additional cost and you were basically indentured to them for 5 years minimum.

That said, I believe it's easier to migrate to Canada, become a citizen there, then move or get a job here. We can hire Canadian's on contract and not have to deal with any legal issues or fees.

There are a bunch of sites to look at like Monster, Dice, Flipdog, Hotjobs, etc. but, I'd do a search for sponsorship (if you still want to go that route) and see what turns up.

Best of Luck

You definitely have to use a lawyer but, unless it's changed recently, you have to find a company first that is willing to sponsor you and set it all up. I don't think you can just pay a lawyer and then come find a place to work. The sponsorship process too is rather laborious and takes years (5 minimum, I think) to get through it all.

During that time, you can't quit that job. If you do, you have to find a new sponsor and the process has to start all over again.

I think because of NAFTA, Canadians can work here with no problem but, folks across the pond have to still be sponsored.

Depending on what your end game is, like I said, it make make more sense to become a Canadian citizen (I've heard it's a very easy process), then seek work here, then take your time and see if you can get a sponsor.

Here is a link to a book in the UK that seems like it may help. http://www.howtofindsponsorship.com/default.asp
