AC I got the same thing today and also did what others here advised. I would love to see long jail terms for idiots that do this kind of crap including identity theft.

A lot out there right now,EBay secrity called me today and ask if I had 3 cars on EBay for sale since they didn't appear to fit my past posting. One was a 2004 BMW the large one for a Buy It Now price of 10K.I said no not my ads so they credited my account for the fees to list these cars and closed my account and cancelled the ads.I had to follow there direction with a password they provided good for 48 hours and change my EBay and mail password to get going again.I had 8 offer to come and drive BMW home, more info on cars etc.So watch out.I have never seen it this bad as past month.

Everytime I forward one to eBay or Paypal, I get another one within the hour. I get one almost every day and get two or three some days. Some of them are very realistic looking. Spams usually start out with "Dear eBay member" and not your user name.

I've been getting two or three a week, most telling me that my Paypal account has been suspended and to click on the link to verify my account. I use to send them to ebay, but they are so frequent now, I just delete them along with all the other junk I get.

Allious Catious, I think you SHOULD click on the link and fill out all requested info. You are probably in deep doodoo with E-Bay and Pay-Pal.

Wuzzzer,I wish I knew how they did it but not being a crook myself I dont ever think about a way to get into someones pocket. From what I'm told these people have spend time in jail and being around other crooks they pass on info.for scams.EBay has warned me to alway be sure to check MY EBAY for messages and if not there then they did not send the message and that they never ask for password or credit card info. Now I am scared to use EBay.

Hackers get into the govt computers so I am sure they can hack into eBay. They post someone else's pictures and put the cars up for sale. Sometimes they are so slick you do not realize you got conned until it is too late. They sit on info for a year and then use it when you are no longer suspicious.

Got another type today that looked official.

"Question from eBay Member -- Respond Now"

Seems real enough except, I'm not selling anything on eBay at this time (which is when folks typically ask questions).

So if you click on the link that says "Respond to Member" you get this link
http://www.respond2e.com/index.php?secure%server%US

Obviously NOT an eBay link.

It looks official but, most folks probably don't check the address bar to see where the address is from.

They ask you for your username and password (like eBay would) and then present you with the question from the member.

Funny thing is, no matter what you type for the username and password you get the question. LOL!

So, for fun, I've been jamming their system all day with bogus usernames and passwords.

Feel free to join in the fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe if the get 9 bazillion bogus ones, we'll save the 2-3 folks that actually sent in their real ones.

Amen to this.

I return ANY unsolicited ebay emails to spoof@ebay.com .
Even though eBay & I have parted company (less than friendly), if they can hang these guys who would steal my identity or anyone elses, then "Hang 'em High!"
