I am purchasing a new Jeep Commander for my wife's for her 40th birthday. Should I consider buying an extended warranty?

I bought the Max Care program for the Kat, but wonder if such an expense is "worth it" for the Jeep?

Your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated.

Also, any recommendations on whom to purchase the extended warranty from?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin: I just got an extended warranty (Chrysler Max Care) on Ken's Ram Truck through Bob Haisler with Miller Motors at 800-824-1784. Just tell him you are with the Prowler Owners Association. He also did my daughter's PT Cruiser and my Prowler's warranties as well. Great guy and I think he charges $50 over dealer cost. Tami

If she is only 40 she probably will outlive the standard warranty so you had better go for it. At my age (and Sandy's) it is kind of stupid to plan that far in advance. lol

I recomend waiting until just before the Bumper to Bumper expires...but no later. If it's still under warranty, you can get an extended warranty for the same price as if it were new. This way it gives you plenty of time to decide if your going to keep it, trade it, or whatever. Otherwise you have to go through the process of canceling it and waiting for the refund or you could have put the money to better use. And if you finance it in, and then trade it or sell it before it's up, you've payed interest on it the whole time. JMO

Since it is a DC product you better get one due to their poor product quality!
