A warning to anyone out there who may be using EBay to buy or sell.I have bought 2 cars in last month and was outbid on 3 more.I recieved a second chance offer to buy these cars at my last bid, even tho there was higher bids than mine.I contacted the owners of these vehicles and they know nothing about it and all say thier vehicles were sold and no problems.I also recieved notice that someone was attemping to gain access to my account and I must change my password since my account will be closed within 3 days.I contacted EBay and was informed all these mails were scams. So please be careful and report anything that does not sound right to EBay.

E-Bay and Paypal both state that at no time should you ever respond to an e-mail that looks to be from them that requires you to click on a link that is within that e-mail. One or two characters in the "http" link will be different than the real one and the whole web page will be a scam just trying to get your passwords or personal info.

I have had this happen many times, I collect A.C.Gilbert Erector Sets, usually its a person who has a similar item he wants to sell without going thru the auction, I just forward it to "spam@ebay.com" and they take care of it.

You don't even have to use eBay or PayPal to get these. The wife doesn't have an account and she gets them all the time.

They look legit till you hover over the link and then you will see a totally different address then the eBay one you think you are clicking on.

If you suspect fraud, forward them to spoof@paypal.com (if a paypal issue).

Yup, get 'em soooo often...I don't even open them anymore...straight to the delete pile. Only time you [may] get a legit email from either is if you just bought/sold an item & are using paypay to complete the transaction(s). Ya' gotta be smarter than the scammers -- these days!

I don't even bother w/ sending 'em to the spoof & spam sites...not worth my time. Just delete, click, gone! Adios!

I forward them because eBay and PayPal go after them and shut them down. May help those less worldly in the way of computers and technology.

Also, eBay and PayPal will never ask you for your ID and when they do send you an email, they will refer to you by your real name and not "Dear PayPal subscriber"

Rule of thumb, if they don't know who you are, they aren't real.

I have had a couple of "phish" messages on My eBay so nothing is totally safe. Some of them are very sophisticated.

They may appear sophisticated but, just hover over the link. The link may even say something totally legit like security.eBay.com but, when you hover over it you will see the real link associated with that text says something completely different (ie. www.192.34.123.41/we/den_fin/r.html)
