It would be great to see the Bengals go all the way this year. They have earned it. Love to see them win all the marbles.

The remote chance of this happening went away with the first play of the game.

Ed - sorry partner,,,,,,your team gave it a good run,,but fell short. I was pulling for them,,,probably the reason they lost. Always next year! They should be proud of their fine season!

Carson Palmer tore a knee ligament on the very first offensive play. He completed a 57 yard pass and one of the Steelers (an ex-Bengal) rolled onto his leg from the side. Totally different ball game with Jon Kitna the backup QB in there. He did not take a single snap all year until last week. He was rattled and wore out by the 4th quarter.
Give the Steelers credit, they pulled off a couple of great trick plays for TDs.
One horrible call, one of the Steelers was about a foot out of bounds and lowered his shoulder and so did a Bengal defender. They called it unecessary roughness and got a 15 yard penalty to keep a drive alive for their first TD. If they would have been behind the entire game, it would have been a lot different. They would have had to pass.
Again, give the Steelers credit. They won on the road in front of a HOSTILE crowd.

I was pulling for the Bungles too. There was another bad call on that one touchdown pass. The Bungles reciever was interfered with and didn't get called for it in the 3rd quarter.

The crowd at my house was pulling hard for the Cincy, but wasn't to be.

We had gathered to cheer on the Panthers. I hope the outcome of that one was that the Panthers played great, but in reality I think it was a combo of the Panthers playing good and the Giants playing bad. I just hope the Panthers keep being seen as the underdogs and stay off most folks radar screen, much like they 2 years ago.

On to Chicago. A buddy of mine is checking on flights and tickets. If all can be arranged we are off to the Windy City next Sunday.

Heartbreaking game for the Bengals... first time back in the playoffs in FOREVER, then have one of the guys that got you there hurt on the first possession... you could see the effect in the players faces as soon as Palmer went down... heartbreaking.

The same thing happened when the Bengals went to the Super Bowl. Krumrie got his leg broken in the first quarter. He was the middle linebacker and the heart of the defense. Same thing happened to UC basketball. They were rated # 1 and Kenyon Martin broke his leg in the first game. We're jinxed, I tell ya, jinxed.

I would make a joke about using the phrases UC and basketball in the same sentence... but since UK is looking like a division II or III team this year, I better keep my mouth shut!

I had forgotten about Krumrie and Martin. That is some tough luck in Ohio. I hope UC can shed the thug/criminal image that Huggins fostered. As a UK fan, I was glad when Knight left IU so I didn't have to hate IU any more. Feel similar about UC and Huggins.

Heartbreaking! I had to come into work the next day only to see a gloating Steeler fan with a giant belt buckle and hat. Terrible way to lose. I can take an a** beating, but it stinks to lose that way. It was probably the first time my boy heard me cuss.

On the way home from work, I heard sad news about Carson Palmer on a sports radio station. "Catatrophic and potentially career ending injury..could potentially come back next year.."

No one is counting the guy out...but what a tough injury..
What could have been? It just sucks that is a part of the game.

They are saying the Dr. that did the surgery did not say those things and he is upset about being misquoted. I think that statement came after the Bengals told him to change his statement to the press. I guess we will know next Aug. or Sept. at the earliest.

Again, sorry about the Bengals.

Great games on tap for Sat. and Sun.

I got it worked out. A friend & I are headed up to Chicago Sun. morn for the Chicago - Carolina game.

Go Panthers!

Predictions:

Seattle over Washington (My heart is with the Skins, but 2 weeks off and home field all the way across the country against a good team is hard to overcome).

Indy over Pittsburgh (Indy just has too many horses and are hard to beat in a dome).

New England over Denver (I sure hope Broncs win, but Pats on a roll and know how to win in the playoffs. I respect, but hate New England).

Carolina over Chicago (Playing up there against a great defense that has had 2 weeks to heal and prepare is gon'na be tough, but a true fan has got to have faith in his/her team).

Seattle wins over Washington.

Denver up 10 to 3 at the half.

Lots of great football this weekend.
