Two excerpts from the article. I am not a big fan of football, but Brenda usually drags me to one game at Tech every year. Any thoughts?

RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 6) - Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was dismissed from the team Friday, the result of numerous legal transgressions and his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Gator Bowl.

On Friday, it was revealed that Vick had been stopped for speeding and driving with a revoked or suspended license in Hampton on Dec. 17, Cpl. James West said. Vick's license had been taken away in August 2004 when he was cited for reckless driving and marijuana possession in New Kent County.

Yes, another dirt bag, ignorant criminal that will be punished later this year with a multi million dollar contract. It's a shame someone from Louisville didn't find him in the tunnel after the game and return the favor...

I can only hope that one day the NFL learns from the Terrell Owens mess. Sometimes great talent isn't worth the headaches these selfish, and irresponsible pipsqueaks cause.

If I was a head coach I wouldn't touch Vick in the draft. It's like getting married to someone thinking you can change them to be what you REALLY want them to be.

Ed, The Gator Bowl was just last week and I guess that was the last straw.

Vick will be lucky to be a late second or third round draft pick. Some are predicting he may wait to get drafted on the second day (4th - 7th rounds) particularly if Vince Young comes out and adds one premier QB ahead of Vick.

Personally,,,,I don't think Marcus Vick could carry the jocks of either Matt Leinart or Vince Young,,,,way over rated as a quarterback.

Sounds like the other Vick in Atlanta in my opinion...

Vick just announced he will leave college to go in the pro draft this year. Dropping out of college. http://sports.myway.com/news/01072006/v2930.html

Dave, they let him play in the bowl game, gave him another chance. Right. They wanted him to play so they took no action on the previous violation. U.C. has done the same things numerous times. They sure give a good athlete a lot more chances than a poor athlete or non-athlete.
When they turn pro, they are then millionaire a$$holes like T.O, etc. and people are shocked. It actually starts in high school in a lot of cases.
I am done ranting now. I am not picking on V T since the locals pull the same crap. Huggins got fired for all the "little incidents" that finally added up.

Sad thing that sports has turned to that. And it's not just football. It's all sports. It is now all about the money. Even golf has started to get that way. Look at Tiger Woods saying they should shorten the tour so he wouldn't have to play so much. (How about the other guys that want to play?) Kinda sad that the "sport" has gone out of "sports".

It drives me crazy to see someone waste a God given talent!

I've got friends who are loyal and big VPI supporters who tell me that they have been counseling Marcus Vick a ton and Mike has been talking with his brother almost daily to try and get him on the straight road. They all knew/know he is a loose cannon. The President at Va Tech was the one who made the call to dismiss Vick. Even though they did the right thing (eventually), this still taints the school and it should.

Ed pegged him with the T.O. comment. If I was an NFL coach, I would want nothing to do with Vick...

Unfortunately, all sports are now big business as opposed to entertainment. Marcus will turn pro and someone will pick him up for big bucks. He will continue just the way he is and he will convince himself that it is justified.

Ryan Freel of the Cinti REDS got picked up in Tampa over the week-end. He told the cops he was unemployed. Second alcohol arrest within a year.

January 9

SUFFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick, booted from the team last week for his behavior on and off the field, was charged Monday with pulling a gun on three teenagers during an altercation in a restaurant parking lot.

Vick surrendered at the Suffolk magistrate's office after three warrants were issued for his arrest Sunday, Magistrate Lisa Noel said.

The 21-year-old Vick was charged with three misdemeanor counts of brandishing a firearm, and was released on $10,000 bond.
