I would guess that engine is a 331. Is the trans one of those fluid drives with a clutch pedal? You would have to be as old as Coffeeman to know the answer!! |

My mom drove a 51 Chrysler Windsor with the fluid drive/ automatic up until I was 15. As I remember the fluid drive had to do with the torque convertor and Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Desoto used it with either a manual or automatic transmision. You used the clutch once to engage the transmission but then could idle and not kill the engine. The fluid drive was offered throughout the 40's and early 50's models so it's possible this 54 ebay Dodge could have it, I guess. |

Thanks for the responce Marty...I have talked with the guy and it sounds like we can get together in the 5500 dollar range. I still have no clue what this car is worth! |

In my younger days in college, a buddy had an old Dodge with fluid drive. We were cruising along at a very slow pace. Checking out the new female freshman class. I wanted to look at a girl we had just passed. I reached over and grabbed the gear shift. Threw it up into reverse. (He was driving). The car rolled to a stop. When he hit the gas, we started backing up the street. That's when we found out you can shift from low to reverse without tearing anything up. Watch out for the cars following you tho. That comes as a big surprise to them!!! LOL |

The body looks good, the chrome looks good. I doubt if it is very fast but it is a nice older car that will get some looks. |

The 1954 Dodge Royal 4 dr. with a Hemi had 241.3 cu. in. and 140 HP with the standard intake manifold and 150 HP with the Offenhauser manifold. There were some 58,950 4dr. manufactured and the base transmission was a 3 speed on the column and the Powerflite was optional for the first time. The list price was $2,373 with Powerflite. A smaller Torque- flite will bolt up perfectly and give you a 3 speed automatic. Look for one from a 318 V8. |
