Just wanted to take time to wish all of my Canadian friends across the border Happy Boxing Day.

For those who don't know what Boxing Day is:

The day after Christmas, the Feast of St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr, is better known as Boxing Day. The term may come from the opening of church poor boxes that day; maybe from the earthenware boxes with which boy apprentices collected money at the doors of their masters' clients.

Nowadays, we often see, in certain families, gifts (boxes) given to those who provide services throughout the year.

Thanks for thinking of us...

around here, it is a day that alot of folks go visiting...

and some of the less fortunate go shopping...

the gluttons just stay home and digest food....

I don't have the canadian flag to wave here ... i guess our flag emoticon was dumped for a candy cane or something...

not cool !

Jerry... I've always heard a slightly different version... boxing day was due to the 'help' of the aristocrats having to work on the holiday...and the next day (Boxing Day) they (the help) had off... and were using packing what was left over from their employers in boxes.... thus 'boxing' day....

the version I heard.......
