Just read this on MSN.... They voted T.O. this years Top Sports Turkey Award. It was worded so well , I couldn't help but share it with all you football fans..... enjoy ! 1. Terrell Owens Will someone please diagnose this man's mental illness? I've heard all the non-medical analysis: selfish jerk, terrible teammate, unbearable blowhard. But there is something else seriously wrong with this guy. Some kind of bipolar narcissism bedevils T.O. and makes him do and say things that will ultimately cost him a ton of money. Drew Rosenhaus needs to get this guy some counseling and some meds. With his heroic performance in Super Bowl XXXIX Owens established himself as not only the most physically gifted receiver in the NFL but also the most courageous. Philly was in the palms of his very special hands. All he had to do was honor the very lucrative contract he had signed after forcing his way out of San Francisco and Baltimore. But like an addict suffering a relapse, Owens returned to his favorite destructive pastimes, demanding more money and denigrating his quarterback. If he couldn't be happy on a perennial contender loaded with Pro Bowlers that throws the ball more than any other team in the league, does he really think he'll find contentment elsewhere? Owens may see the fact that the Eagles have lost three straight games without him and fallen into the cellar of the NFC East as some kind of vindication, but nobody was questioning his on-field impact. The sad fact for Eagles fans — and ultimately for T.O. — is that a proud organization and a player's coach decided they'd rather take their chances without him than endure his toxic presence. Congratulations, T.O., you're No. 1.

Have been reading all the articles with regard to T.O. Amazing what arrogance and greed does. For someone who has that kind of talent and to have worked hard to get to the NFL how stupid is he that he would throw it all away because of bad behavior? His attempted apology was too little too late and I applaud the Eagles owner and coach for taking the steps they did to remove the biggest detriment to their team. They'll find someone else.....

I just read in today's newspaper:Toyota is kicking up production,,,,and will most likely surpass GM as the #1 automaker! GM closing plants,,laying off 30,000+ workers,,,lost $4 billion. Toyota is opening new plants,,,,hiring,,,,building. Who would have thought, back in the 60's, that those ugly, junk Toyota, Datsun, and Honda companies would be building the numbers and quality that they are doing today??? They didn't do it by selling for less,,,,just better. This message has been edited by ALLEY CAT on 11-24-2005 at 01:18 PM

GM has noone to blame but themselves, lackluster (completely boring) styling has sent them down the tubes. The new Cobalt and HHR, yuck! Body styles seem more like an afterthought. Get rid of old school, bring in cutting edge thinking.

I was a diehard GM fan, for many years, till I saw Toyota vehicles going over 300,000 miles without major engine work except for normal upkeep and timing belts/chains when needed. My poor old GM and Dodge vehicles had tranmissions puking at 75000 to 100000 miles even with labeled upkeep, engines dying at 100000 miles needing major work. One of my best friends was a Toyota Tech before he started working for me, and he won't own anything but a Toyota or Honda. He said none of the American companies have anything that will stand up to the three primary Japanese companies. GM is paying the price now and the others will follow. Ford is going to have major problems also and DC won't be far behind them. I have a 93 Toyota pickup with 240,000 miles and I would drive it across the country without even thinking about it. Our native automakers need to get with the program, build better vehicles and restore the average citizens faith in them. They may join the ranks of Tucker, Kaiser, Nash, Rambler, Plymouth, Studebaker, Edsel, and Oldsmobile, in the near future.

By the way, I support your outline; Halicat. You are 100% on the mark. Most of these overpaid, professional sports folks are in the need for some serious come to Jesus meetings. I think they are too busy patting themselves on the back to realize many of the fans are finding other things to pass their time with instead of supporting them and their egos. The only professional sport I will even think about going to see anymore is Ice Hockey, because the owners are trying to keep the sport in the average persons means, by controling cost and overhead. I don't even watch racing anymore, because the average race car owner and drive can't even get on a major track anymore. Money, Money, Money, thats the motto of Professional sports anymore, they have lost the true meaning of sports. This person would rather go lawn bowling, with friends, on a warm afternoon than sit in a huge stadium feeding the beast.

I drive my 1990 Toyota Corolla almost everyday to work (100 mile roundtrip commute). We bought the Toyota brand new so I have had the opportunity to take care of her since day one. She just turned 220,000 miles. I feel she is just waking up! The big three can't come close to this dependability!!! Brian

I recently sold a 1994 Cavalier convertible. It had 324,000 miles on it (all mine) Everything still worked fine. Had to replace brakes and tires along the way but nothing major. All my Chevy's have been dependable. That's why I keep buying them. I too drive 100 miles to work every day and in those 324,000 miles the Cavalier never left me on the side of the road. Still had the original timing belt, transmission, engine etc. Maybe Plymouth and the General paid or are paying the price but in the end when all the jobs are overseas and we no longer support our mfgr's we can go to the museum to see what money looked like back in the good old days.Someday we and T.O. can look in the mirror and say "Well we showed us!" I think GM, Ford and DC are doing their best to compete? No way do I agree that the SSR, the Impala, Monte Carlo, Mustang, Charger, Prowler, PT Cruiser, 300,etc., are boring and styling is an after thought. That lingo jingo kind of sounds like the constant complaining and whinning of the UAW. Too bad labor does not seem to understand the new world order and business model. For example, GM has more than a -$3,000 cost disadvantage built into each car (prior to production) due to built in labor entitlements (e.g. zero, zip, nada co-pay for medical insurance). I'm SURE there is plenty of blame to go around for BOTH sides? But instead of rolling up their sleeves and figuring out a way for both labor and stock holders to survive..both sides are playing the blame game and are too unwilling to change. The American auto industry seems doomed to watch good paying manufacturing jobs go to overseas companies. JMO

I'll put in my 2 cents... G.M.'s biggest problem in my opinion is instead of playing to win, they play not to lose....and that is what separates leaders from followers. They are now not leading the marketplace(like they used to)but are instead following trends and keeping up with the trends.... They have too many divisions without a clear marketing strategy for each and their design has significantly lacked appeal for some time now. As far as reliability goes,I can't say I've ever had a major problem with an American built car...the worst car I've ever owned was a Jag XJ12... Japanese product may be great but it just doesn't turn me on... As for GM....best of luck in the future,I'm sure they'll need it!

I have to agree with Roman. The writing has been on the wall for some time now. GM scales down by getting rid of Oldsmobile just to take on Hummer which is great timing with fuel costs going through the roof.If they would have started closing plants ten years ago maybe the UAW would have made the necesary concessions by now. I won't buy anything but Chevy Express vans for work. Two of them have over 200.000 miles and have cost less to maintain then any Fords we have used. Dodge/Freightliners just cost to much to consider.
