Something to think about while out driving in the late evening and early mornings. No, problem in Texas as road kill means meat on the table that night. Just something to think about this time of the year. Be careful out there.

Hitting a deer in a Prowler would be bad news, for sure. They are more common than rabbits here, even inside the city limits.

While Az has some deer population,,,,our problem in northern Arizona are the Elk. Elk like to stand on the road at night,,,,,and some of them are quite large.

No. they don't work.

Deer have a hard time blowing into them.

Some people swear they work but they have done studies that say they don't. I have no personal experience with the whistles.

We have wrecked four patrol cars in the last two months due to deer. Cost us $1,000.00 to $1,800.00 a pop to fix them. Good thing is that none of the Deputies have been hurt.

Glad to recognize that Tangled and Myself(Mr. Ed)baby pictures were posted. Do you realize that we were separated at birth? I am the better lookin' one. I am now a successful realtor for our local community. Tangled chose another path. The community always get us mixed up and I can't understand why.

i'm surprised by that report md
i've made many trips in the middle of the night down the infested with deer garden state parkway, the jeep i drove in those days had two whistles on the front. it seemed whenever i came up on packs of deer(and there were many), they would go jumping into the woods !!!
maybe jersey deer have more sense--lol

I think deer whistles work. We have them on our truck and Cadillac. I also have a "deer-catcher" rack on the front of the truck. I've had a couple of close calls recently.

We have a ton of deer around here. I see them daily. We keep two deer feeders stocked with corn on our ranch and every evening at dusk the deer come to feed.

A man and his friend were hunting deer in rural Missouri near a highway. A huge buck walked by, and the hunter carefully drew his bow and took careful aim.

Before he could release his arrow, his friend alerted him to a funeral procession passing on the road below their stand. The hunter slowly let off the pressure on his bow, took off his hat, bowed his head, and closed his eyes in prayer.

His friend was amazed. He said, "Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen. You are the kindest man I have ever known.

The hunter shrugged and said, "Yeah, well, we were married for 35 years."

I have not had any personal experience with them but have two sets my in-laws gave me last year. We have about adozen or so that pass thru our yard several times a day and they are getting more accustom to humans each year. This year they are eating my Hostas from 3 feet from my porch. TOO CLOSE! I have been very lucky as I have only hit one deer (or should I say he hit me)and that was with the Concorde many years ago. Thanks DC for plastic fenders! No damage!

I know my odds are decreasing each year. Sooner or later...

Also bear in mind that deer ticks carry Lyme disease!

i hear you md
they are getting too accustomed to humans
i gave up planting nice bushes, flowers etc, they ate everything, even bushes and trees, that the nursery said they hated, and would not eat !
if it was not for my dogs, they would be in my spa on the back deck -lol
ghost--talk about ticks, my home is on 5 acres back in the woods, i average 20 ticks on me per year, with at least 10 bites. had lymes 5 years ago, did all the treatments for a year, it subsided, but every once in awhile, i get minor flare-ups, they say the lymes will be in my system for life
but i would not give up living where i live just because of that !!
